Default The reason I went

When HD-DVD and Blu-Ray was coming out, I was rooting for HD-DVD, but had a feeling that Blu-Ray would win. So I just waited, it wasn't worth the money at the time to risk being wrong.

So after HD-DVD essentially lost, I was still going to wait to get a BR player, since the price was still a bit too much.
However, I was browsing my favorite online store (Newegg) and I found some BR drives for the PC for $130; what a killer deal!

So I bought one for the heck of it.
So for now, until I get the funds saved up for an HDTV, it's hooked up to my main PC with a 22" LCD. Movies don't look bad at all on it actually. But it's just not the same thing... So after I get the HDTV, I will throw the drive in a HTPC and have a cheap BR player!
I don't regret the purchase, but my collection is still small (7 BR's).

So the deal breaker for me was the low price. They are still around the same price, maybe even a little cheaper at Newegg. So if you are still holding out, go grab yourself one.
