Default I am finally 'Purple'

Well... as of last weekend (exactly 1 week ago as I type) I am 'purple'. The reasoning is very simple:

I have said since these forums began, that I would buy a Blu-ray player, when they offered a 'full featured' player (1.1 spec... min) at the same price that I paid for my HD DVD player (then an HD-A1... now an HD-A35)... and last weekend's Blu-ray sale at Wal Mart was that very occasion.

I got the Panasonic BD30 for $448, with a $100 Gift card, making it a $388 player (what I paid for by first A1)... I don't care about the fact that HD DVD is 'dead'... because I can get movies for CRAZY cheap. I always intended to go purple, I just had specific criteria that needed to be met first.

The only movie I have seen so far is Meet the Robinsons ... and it was fantastic. Easily on par with what I have seen from my A35 (obviously)... and I'm looking forward to some of the other 15 titles I already have (thanks J&R for having an AMAZING sale the week I buy my BD player). (I made it through 40 minutes of Cloverfield [netflix] before I felt like I was going to barf... so Robinsons is the only one I've seen in it's entirety)

I bought:
  • 3:10 to Yuma
  • Black Hawk Down
  • The Covenant
  • Digital Video Essentials: HD Basics
  • Donnie Brasco
  • A Few Good Men
  • The Fifth Element (remastered)
  • I am Legend
  • A Knight's Tale
  • Meet the Robinsons
  • The Patriot
  • Superbad
  • Underworld
  • Underworld: Evolution

The hardest part, is to STOP buying movies. I only have ~45 HD DVDs... and I'm already at 15 Blus in 1 week ... I need to add amazon to my 'blocked' addresses for a while. LOL

Congrats, dude. I was too late in the game to go purple, just started Blu, but every new player makes me happy. More and more releases are coming, especially if the vocal and film-loving HD-DVD people come around.
