Default I've decided to go blu soon.

You all know me well. I've always been a big advocate of HDDVD. At this point I am certain that HDDVD is done as a format and nothing will change that. What ever Toshiba is doing now only prolongs the inevitable. It actually shows that Toshiba is selfish and only cares about its bottom line and little about consumers. I’ve been thinking about selling X360 for a long time and now I am very close to do that together with HD DVD add-on and the movies. I will get PS3 40GB. I feel that it is a very solid system, most of new titles released for X360 are also released for PS3 and finally the price is right given PS3 diversity. Better to support Sony at this point then not. At least we will have one HD format surviving. Otherwise we will not have any.

I do not know how much i can get for my X360 and the addon and the movies.

Do you think it is better to sell it altogether on Ebay or hardware seperate and movies seperate.

My advice as a once purple supporter. Sell the HD DVD if you must. Keep the Xbox 360 as it's got a few exclusive games worth playing and will still upscale your dvds. The PS3 is a great bargain if you use it for blu rays and games. And if one breaks, you always have a back up player for at least dvds in my opinion. It's been fun for me building up my blu-ray library and welcome to the blu.

I would do the hardware separate from the movies.

To go Blu is finally to come to your senses, but to sell your 360 is madness.

Don't really care what you do, and sorry to tell you ,all of them,be it Toshiba, Sony etc, only care about it's bottom line and little about their consumers.

I made the same move you did back in Oct. 2007. I took everything in to my local EB Games, and ended up walking out with the PS3, a game, the Blu-ray remote, an extra controller and a couple of movies. I was a little worried at first, but honestly, after setting everything up, and playing games, watching both Blu-ray and Upconverted SD-DVD's, enjoying the slide show presentations for pictures from my vacation..etc...I realized I should have made the move long before.

Of course, I did it in part because I was tired of having the 360 replaced. However, means to an end, and now I've been loving all the features the PS3 has. It's actually a steal when you consider what you get out of it.

So, hopefully you'll get good trade-in value, or decent second hand sale value. Either way, I'm pretty confident you'll be happy with your purchase. I was so very skeptical at first, I really didn't want a sony gaming system. It's not a gaming system, it's an entire Home Entertainment System. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. It's also nice to see you care more about HDM in general than this stupid format war.

I've been blu, but I haven't really done myself any justice by keeping my 360 around (it just isn't getting played, and is way too expensive to be a dusty paperweight or dvd player). I too am selling it, and have just bought a PS3 40gb. My advice is to try to sell it as a bundle, but be willing to take some losses on the movies (it will help sell better). Afterall, if you sell the 360 and add-on, you cant use the movies -- and vice versa.

So price the 360 fairly, and then price the addon and movies at a sizzlin rate and combine the prices. That should turn heads, and will land you a PS3 for almost no loss I'd think.

Good luck, and welcome

I have never played Gears of War, and that's the single game on the 360 I've wanted to play. Never really got into Halo at all (really don't know what the hype was all about, but that's my opinion). I think the 360 has quieted down a little, and I still can't get over the Red Death scenario. Man, was that ever crazy. It was like the plaque to 360s. I worked at Best Buy, and I remember an average of five coming in every day for a while there.

Movies separate.

I've managed to cut down my HD DVD collection from 20 to 3 in one month. Player is unsellable.

I've been using the PS3 for many things gaming, Folding@home, Blu-ray, DVD, and Linux, and consider the stress I put it under (30C) room it hasn't given me an issue yet. very solid, nice thing about the PS3 is once that new firmware gets released it'll be a profile 2.0 player

I'm not 100% sure what would be the better way to go, on 1 hand, if you bundle them together you offer convenience to the customer, but fewer customers may look at it if they already have a 360, selling them separately would give the customer choice so s/he could pick and choose what they wanted. but it's a question of would you make it sell faster or make more money I'm not sure, sorry.

do you wonder where Toshiba, Sony etc would be without its consumers? having a PS3 and getting free online play plus free firmware updates that make my PS3 do brand new things that it wasnt able to before makes me think Sony actually cares about me as a customer. i can only imagine how great you would run a business. walk into damn near any business and they will tell you, w/o the consumer there is no business. no consumer = no sales = no money.

You know what I'm a dual format owner (as many already know) but it is unfair to label Toshiba as being selfish. The same could be said of Sony and the Blu-ray camp. Believe me they are NOT doing anything for the "good" of the consumer. They want to control the entire HD market to make more money. The Toshiba folks have a very good product in HD-DVD and have every right to continue to push it as does Sony. The "price" for Blu-ray is still high for the average consumer and Sony has no plans of knocking the price down so again they are not doing it for the good of any consumer. I'm glad the format war is continuing and I hope it continues for a long time.

the thing is that i do not have to play games now so I guess i can live with few exlusive titles not being available on PS3. BUT when I play games then i want to play them online and i would rather go the free way then pay for XLive!
