Lightbulb Former HD DVD supporter turned Smurf

Okay. I'd like to announce that I am coming off of a fresh suspension due to reasons I do not fully understand, but they no longer matter.

I love HD DVD, and still to this day prefer its features to Blu-Ray. However, I am not naive enough to beleive Toshiba can still pull this off. So, with that said, Warner killed HD DVD. Digital Downloads are a joke, and can not compete with a physical format that I can resell or trade for something else should I feel so inclined.

Since the Warner announcement, I have bought 18 Blu-Ray movies and I have enjoyed several of them just as much as HD DVD movies.

I will not buy any more HD DVD discs, unless God blesses the format and they make a miracle comeback.

AV Integrated (HD DED) should be proud of my decision . So, I urge everyone that used to support HD DVD exclusively to go the Blu route. Being stubborn and hating Blu-Ray will only hurt HDM for the future. I understand if you want to wait until a cheaper 2.0 player comes out, but don't rule out Blu completely.

Congrats. Although with 89 HD DVDs, you may want to get more when they hit closeout prices.

I only have 6 HD DVDs, plus the 5 free coming eventually. It's hardly worth keeping except for Netflixing movies that aren't on Blu-ray at this point. Fortunately the A3 was cheap.

Nice post... I hope other supporters follow your wise decisions.

If you like GoW and Halo 3....you should rent Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and buy Warhawk. Both games are a similar but different experience from your favorites in your Sig. I think you will find to enjoy Warhawk much more than more multiplayer games you tried.

Just trying to see some more use outta your playstation..

Very nice post and well stated... Unfortunetly there are those people (like me) who don't want to wait for releases on blu so we'll continue buying red... But generally this is a very good post.

I dropped HD DVD as well, the only title I would buy at this point is Mean Girls but it probably won't even be announced haha.

Good post. If only more HD DVD fans here were as level headed as you seem to be. Congrats for not being a self punishing jerk by denying yourself the beauty of HDM.

I also have both, much prefer HD DVD 100x, hands down. With that said, I never understood the need to renounce support or stop buying. You have 89 HD DVDs, presumably you will retain your player so why wait for great titles like AG and Bee Movie, that may (or may not) reach BD at a later point? For me, the barrier isn't there to choose or wait. And ultimately I could always pursue a DF player to ensure the continued use of my great HD DVD titles or just keep my HD player along side my PS3.

I've done the same thing. I bought a PS3 and i'm not going to buy anymore HD DVD's. I'll continue watching the 50 or so that I have, but definitely not going to be buying anymore. Only blu now.

Wouldn't being purple, rather than never ever buying an HD DVD starting now, be the thing to do if you didn't want to deny yourself?

There are no stronger evangelists than a convert. I will continue to support HD DVD, thanks for the concern.

I understand. If I buy any more HD DVDs, they will be Beowulf and American Gangster. I don't want to keep buying both formats because it feeds both machines. I would rather solely support one format and make my contribution a means to an end.

In the end, the war was good for the consumer. It got prices of hardware down, and it also made promotional offers on the software. To everyone who ever said the war was bad for consumers, I suggest you go take an ECO class and learn what competition actually does for consumers.

I do not intend to sell off my HD DVD collection because I have $thousands$ invested, but I will just intermix my HD DVD and Blu-Ray collection from here on out.

In the end, I still believe an HD DVD victory would have been best for the consumer because it is a final spec, and the hardware prices are cheaper than BD. I think that by this Christmas, even Blu-Ray will be at such low prices that it doesn't really matter in the end.

The writing isn't on the wall, it's on Toshiba's (HD DVD's) headstone. They have had several chances and opportunities to literally end this, and they let every one slip away. I think the single best thing they could have done was release key 'must have' titles on an HD DVD/DVD combo only, and subsidized the cost down to DVD pricing - Transformers and The Bourne Ultimatum in particluar. You want to talk about a Trojan Horse??? Toshiba had every opportunity to play the same game as Sony, but they never did. They started the software promos too late in the game when Sony had already inflicted critical damage.

No way. I hate the controller, I hate the interface, and I hate the PSN. There is absolutely no substitute for Xbox Live. I'll gladly pay MS $50 a year for the service.
