Default I'm Dropping HD DVD Thread

After waiting a bit to see what the HD DVD exclusive studios would do, I've decided to drop my HD DVD support completely, all my future purchases will be Blu only, even if the titles are HD DVD exclusive (the few that will be). It's clear that Universal and Paramount are going Blu, the thought of people on these forums that they will stay exclusive is absurd. I loved HD DVD, but it REALLY doesn't stand a chance anymore.

It's really unfortunate it had to end so quickly, in one surprise move, but I'm moving on and I'm sure many are as well. Who's dropping HD DVD completely?

You've made the right choice. I wish this would just end already too. We need one format only.

I'm dropping it as far as buying new titles is concerned, but I'll keep my player and movies. And I'm gonna try to get a combo player, hopefully that new Samsung at some point.

I am not quite ready to sell my player and movies, but I have no plans to buy any more titles on HD DVD.

I will be moving on also, ive already changed 8/13 movies over to blu ray, and when i purchase a ps3 ill pick up another 6 movies. I will still have my HD DVD player but i dont see the purpose in buying for what i see as a dead format.

Yeah cause thats logical. I mean all my HD DVDS magically wont work tomorrow. Plus fuck yeah I wanna go rebuy them on blu when I personally think all the HD releases of a movie are suprior to the blu versions anyways, it will take forever for all these exclusives to be re issued on blu. I'm not saying i'm stupid enough to stay HD only. But you'd have to be a idiot to sell off something and go exclusive to one format. Its just like saying "Hey I have tons of money and blow it without even thinking about how moronic it is"

No insult to you man but really think about how much you're throwing away.

Yep, same thing here. Although, if there's a really nice exclusive that I simply must have, then I won't hesitate to buy it. My A2 and HD DVD movies aren't going anywhere for quite some time to come.

I've decided to back off HDM for a while, and will get only titles that are must haves (either format) and right now that is Enchanted BD, American Gangster and Elizabeth II on HD.

I want to see if Sony will take up arms against DVD or just sit on the win against HD. If it does that, it will lose.

I have an HD-A20 and a PS3 but leaned red because the extras did count. Bye Bye HD, you gave it your best, that's all we could ask. Sony, finish your damn product already!

The Numbers: 900+ DVDs (rapidly declining), 34 HD-DVDs (+1 on order, + 5 free), 17 BDs (+2 on order). Last movie: Close Encounters.

For every member on this forum who drops their support for HD-DVD, there are 5 other Dick and Harrys, "not in the know", buying an HD-DVD player on Amazon right now.

Ya'll gotta work harder.

Yes, it's crystal clear that neither Universal nor Paramount have said that they are going to support Blu-ray.

No employable businessman and/or PR agent would leave that out in one announcement, let alone two.

I too will be dropping support of HD-DVD going forward but will still continue to enjoy what I already have purchased. And I think it is safe to assume that any new exclusives from Universal or Paramount/Dreamworks will eventually find their way to Blu-Ray.

I have no plans to buy HD DVD movies, but maybe rent . I do plan to keep my player and my movies because I don' think the Blu-ray's will be woth the double dip.

It's pretty clear that Blu-ray will win in the end. I think this is the bes choice for peopel to make and end this war.
