Default So I jumped in and chose a side..

So I jumped in and chose a side..

After watching the war from a hilltop like most movie fans and nerds still are (as poor sales numbers clearly indicate), I decided the time was right to jump in to the fire. To hit the front lines. Taste the dirt, muck and blood. To shake my bones and rattle my sword, as Lemmy from Motorhead would say.

The only two movies I have bought on DVD the past many, many months have been Ratatouille and Battlestar Galactica: Razor. These titles are just too good and too important to be left in the lonely freeze-out of the Format Wars and I am mad as hell and FED up with this waiting game.

This war HAS to end. Hundreds, maybe thousands of new titles on a global scale are left alone by movie-buffs waiting for an all-encompassing blue or red victory.. It's a farce.

Anyway.. Back to the matter at hand:

"I chose... wisely."
- Last Crusade

- I think!

Here it is:

PlayStation 3 (40GB)
+ Remote
+ HDMI cable
+ Extra controller (you never know)

Movies I ordered alongside on Blu-ray:

Blade Runner (suitcase) - this release is orgasmic..
Oldboy
Polar Express
BBCs Planet Earth box
First Blood
The Simpsons Movie
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

So.. A virgin no more

Betamax is dead, long live Betamax.

Got Blu?

Congrats on your purchase. The 40GB PS3 is an excellent value and a very powerful machine.

I still consider my 60gb at 599.00 to be a bargain when used as just a BD player so you did real good on this deal.

Congrats and enjoy.

Congratulations man. You picked some good movies to go along with it, particularly First Blood, BBCs Planet Earth box, and Blade Runner. I have the same 40GB version myself, and can say that I think you'll be really happy.

I'm sure that you're as excited as I was. Welcome to the club!

I'd also suggest to keep some of these movies in mind for future purchase:

- Apocalypto
- Casino Royale
- Cast Away
- The Day After Tomorrow
- Cars
- Ratatouille
- Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- The Prestige
- Rescue Dawn
- PoTC 1, 2, 3

If it's about content, then You indeed chose wisely! What display are you using?
You can wait on a Toshiba. They may get even cheaper down the road.

Then damn good choice going with the PS3. IMO, you don't want to hook up a 1080i player to your display, since most HDTV's, including the Big Daddy XBR4, failed deinterlacing tests in reviews.

Nice choice. Bly-ray is here to stay. The latest numbers prove that with a 76:24 win. It makes me wonder how much longer HD-DVD can give away players. Already over 7 mil PS3s out there worldwide. Things are just getting better next year with 2.0 and some great exclusive games. It's nice to own a PS3
