Default I have taken the Blu pill...

Bought me a HD display last week, a Sony Bravia KDL-46D3500 (46" full-HD LCD), and have ordered a PS3, now that I have a display capable of showing hi-def movies in their proper surroundings!

I always thought I'd start out with HD-DVD since I've owned an X360 for about a year now, but I didn't like the idea of an external drive and no HDMI, so I opted for a PS3 40GB instead as my first HD-disc capable device. By no means does this mean I've picked a side, Universal and Paramount still put out a good deal of great movies that I would buy.

So far I haven't been able to put the display to the test, but I've watched some short HD clips on the 360 via component and they looked fantastic. SDTV looks ok, but I didn't buy the display for SD. Took a quick look at Star Wars Epi III (via S-video, I need cables!) and I can say it makes me tingle inside for what Blu-ray and HD-DVD will bring to the table.

My Christmas shopping list:

Blade Runner
The Departed (as part of Best of Blu-ray vol 3)
Paprika
Tekkonkinkreet

Oddly enough, Warner Bros. titles seem to be the most wanted on my wishlist, titles which can be had on both formats.

I'll post my first impressions of Blu later when my PS3 arrives bundled with Spiderman 3.

You'll enjoy it I just Bought a Sony Bravia 46W3000 and a PS3, I already had an A2 Toshy. I Spent the week tweaking and I have the set pretty well Dialed in. The PS3 looks great on it for Movies and Games. I've compared the A2 and the PS3 and Give a slight edge to the PS3 but it's only slight. Best transfers I've watched so Far are Tremors and Serenity on HD-DVD and Rescue Dawn on Blu.

Have Fun.

Oy with the silly clichés, you bought a PS3, you didn't take any freaking pills. (I hope).
