Default Let's Get This Out Of The Way.

After some bitter comments as to why I was posting in Blu-ray forums, and those who failed to read my signature, I have indeed purchased a Blu-ray stand alone. The Samsung BD-P1200. I an still a staunch HD DVD supporter, but love movies. Plain and simple. So when you BR fans see me posting, don't get so excited. It's all about the movies!

it's okay, im neutral but im totally supporting BD. The only HD titles i have are Universal + matrix/batman. Anything that comes out on both format i'll stick w/ blu. Don't wanna pay for those nasty combos

Well I didn't really change, I just went neutral. Of course knowing Spider-man was coming up, but also the Starz/Anchor Bay horror films such as Halloween and Dawn Of the Dead (original) helped. I just wanted all options open. Thanks.

Well, congrats on your purchase, Spideybat - I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but I hope you don't "change your mind". After owing a PS3 for several months now, I'll admit to enjoying Blu-ray movies more than I thought I would, but still prefer & support HD DVD.

Enjoy that Spiderman, my wallet gets a break that week.

I don't think you need a particular movie, simply if you love movies, you want all options open - that is reason enough to go dual format.

I am more a supporter of HD DVD than Blu-ray, however at the same time I firmly believe in a dual format world so I am in no way against Blu-ray. Like CochiseGuy, I bought a PS3 player quite some time ago so that I could enjoy any movie that became available in HD.

Eventually, when I am next planning to upgrade, it will likely be a high end dual format player, but I am waiting for the market to mature first, my A1, 360 add-on, and PS3 serve their purposes fine for the time being.

I agree AND DISAGREE because I have seen many exclusive movies on BR make people sway neutral. Plus I have seen people on impulse pick up a P$3
since it is ranked high as a Bluray player /console cant loose . U get the idea I was just asking

Sure. I am not a gamer and only wanted a stand alone. Trust me, at these prices, there is no such thing as an impulse buy in my house.

I'm a dual supporter. It's all about the movies. It's the manufacturers that have made this division in hi def product, and they want us, the consumer to figure it out for them. I'm all for HD DVD/BD combo players. I say keep the discs coming as they are. Both have their merits. Welcome SPIDEYBAT.

Another dual supporter here. If forced to choose, it'd be HDDVD (more movies that suit my tastes), but fortunately i'm not, and get to enjoy all the great Blu-ray movies too. Love Kung Fu Hustle

Why go dual? - the majority of movies currently available for each format are really quite average. I choose spend my evenings watching the best HD material available - which means owning both formats.

I'm also neutral now and love that in the same day I can watch Terminator 2, Ratatouille, The Matrix, and The Bourne Supremacy and not have to worry about not being able to play certain movies because I went red or blue.
