Default One simple reason: PS3

Why would you need another reason? This one system has the potential to be everything you need to enjoy High Def. It is an awesome game system, an awesome BD player, internet at your fingertips, firmware updates that just keep making it better, etc. I was sold on blu-ray even before the PS3 came out. The PS3 just put me over the top. It was only a matter of time before I got the PS3 and I finally saved enough to get it.

Another minor reason is that I don't believe HD-DVD has a chance. Truthfully, who does not see the writing on the wall for HD-DVD? HD-DVD supporters remind me of George Bush supporters. The numbers keep dwindling but you will always have those who will never stop believing no matter what the facts. The good news for HD-DVD supporters: I think HD-DVD will be around longer than GWB. It may be a while, but once blu-ray eliminates the price differential with HD-DVD, it's over. HD-DVD will have nothing left to hang their hopes on. HD-DVD is getting its hat handed to them already in movie sales. What's going to happen when the hardware for both costs the same? It could be a slow death for HD-DVD but Toshiba won't hang on forever. They are a successful company that will not lose money because they are stubborn.
