Default Should I switch side?

I currently own a xbox 360 HD DVD and I was thinking about selling it and going blu since it seems that blu is going to win the war.
What is your opnion should I do it?

I think it would be the smart thing to do given the market trends my friend.

Keep the 360 add on and buy a Blu Ray playing product to complement it. It's not as if the 360 add on takes up much space, and it means you'll never groan whichever format your favourite movies are announced for.

I'd say wait until the end of the year, until you make a decision, a lot of things are on the horizon. If you feel the need to switch now, look at the releases on both sides and decide which format has most of your favorite movies.

Stick with HD. No sign of the format war ending.

if you dont have universal movies that you absolutely have to have on HD and can't wait, sell it. If there are some universal movies that you have to watch in HD, keep the addon alongside your new Blu ray player until Universal announces they're going neutral next year.

If you are a gamer, it might make sense to sell the add-on and get a PS3. While you will miss out on movies from Universal in HD, you will get access to more studios.

That said, why did you buy the add-on to begin with? Can you still return it for a full refund?

I agree. You won't get more than $100 for your hd-dvd add-on from anyone and would likely only get $70-80. You would be foolish to sell it as its value to you (being able to keep and play all your current hd-dvds and future exclusives) far outweights 4 twenty dollar bills.

If you had a standalone player, or were thinking of selling a ps3 to go red (pretending hd-dvd was ahead), my advice would be different. If you are itching to pull the drigger, do what i did - keep your 360 add-on, but a blu-ray player and enjoy the best of both worlds!

In your situation, I would keep the add-on and buy a BR player and then you are covered.

I don't know about that. I paid $179 for my add-on and sold it less than 5 months later for $150 online (in May). I would think you could still sell it for $120-140 easily (checkout Ebay prices).

Still no where near the amount any BD playing device is going to cost though, then losing HD DVD playing capabilities on top, I think it's a smarter move to hold off an extra month or however long it would take to be able to afford the BD player on top and have both

LG just announced 2 more PC drives that read both formats. A year from now almost all PC drives and most set top boxes will read both formats.

So I think anyone worried they are buying the wrong format disc should relax because they will be covered with future hardware.

I might just keep it for a while.
But I wanted to take advantage of the BR promotion and get a PS3.
Right now I don't care about any ps3 games but perhaps in the future they will have a better line up.
I currently own the hd dvd add on and 3 movies: Goodfellas, King Kong, Fast and Furious.

I am biased. Nearly everyone here is biased; you won't get an unbiased answer .

I would just look at the current & past trends, look at what movies are coming out and decide which studios make more movies that you like.

If you already have a player you might as well keep it until a year or so from now you can get a dual format player for $200-300
