Default Simply because it came with it

I was going to buy a PS3 eventually, and was willing to pay the $600. I did so in March (I live in the US). Now, until then I was not all that interested in HD movies, it just wasnt my thing. I am a tech fan, but HD movies weren't intriguing me. I guess the reason was that I didnt want to pay $500-1000 just for a movie player. But since I bought a PS3, I figure, why the heck not go Blu-Ray for select movies? I just wiped out the expense for a solo player, all I got to do now is buy the movies. Since then I am on the lookout for BR versions of movies I like. Some genres I wont even bother, such as comedy. No matter how good the visuals may be, I just dont see the purpose of a comedy in HD. Whats there to really need to see in HD? The spit coming out of peoples mouths? Now for movies dealing with lots of action, war, etc...definitely will I go HD as long as the reviews are good. My first BR flick was Black Hawk Down. I wanted to see how it looked compared to the DVD counterpart (which I owned at the time). I played the DVD on the 360, and the BR on the PS3, and managed to play them simultaneously. I flicked back and forth, and while saw a difference, I wasnt all that "wowed." I mean it was clearly sharper, better contrast, and was more clear but it just didnt live to my expectations. However as I bought more BR movies I noticed bigger differences, and realized its definitely a good picture. I usually buy BR movies when they reach the $15-18 used range (depending on the movie). The only exception so far is 300 which I pre-ordered for $24 on Amazon.

I am going BR only, since I dont want to have two players. While there are quite a few Universal flicks I want, I figure, once a winner does emerge (and I am hoping its BR), Universal will eventually support the winning format just to help their own financials. But this is years from now. I do own a 360, but wont buy the add-on as I am simply not an add on guy. I dont like the clutter of add ons. Aside from that, there are more flicks I want on Blu-Ray (some multi-format).
