Default When Girls Soccer Turns Ugly

Holy Moly!

This is more like UFC match than a girls soccer game. If I knew they were this exciting I'd watch more often.

The girl on New Mexico defines the word "bitch."

If New Mexico's coach is anything closely resembling a professional they will take the immediate action to suspend her. That type of behavior reflects poorly on the whole team, and allowing it to continue by not taking immediate action against her confirms the team's tranished reputation.

That said, that was pretty entertaining to watch.

If not the coach, the NCAA should definitely do something about it for sure. Ripping a girl down to the ground by her hair. Man, that's brutal stuff. She was just out to hurt people.

Damn, some of those chicks are cute.

Lambert was insane, worst than some of the male players I've seen.

Yeah, the ref was distracted by their nubile bodies.

the kick to the head in the box was also particularly deliberate and much more dangerous. I spent 16 of the first 20 years of my life on soccer fields and that shit would have earned a well deserved beat down in the parking lot if nothing else.

She's been suspended:

Quote:

University of New Mexico head women's soccer coach Kit Vela announced Friday that junior defender Elizabeth Lambert has been suspended indefinitely for her actions in Thursday's match against BYU in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Championship in Provo.

Effective immediately, Lambert is prohibited from participating in all team practices, competition and conditioning activities.

"I am deeply and wholeheartedly regretful for my actions," said Lambert. "My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept any punishment felt necessary from the coaching staff and UNM administration.

"This is in no way indicative of my character or the soccer player that I am. I am sorry to my coaches and teammates for any and all damages I have brought upon them. I am especially sorry to BYU and the BYU women's soccer players who were personally affected by my actions. I have the utmost respect for the BYU women's soccer program and its players."

The physical play made highlight rounds on ESPN Thursday, (viewable here on a YouTube link), with show hosts and one soccer analyst talking about various questionable plays of the match.
Story continues below

"Liz is a quality student-athlete, but in this instance her actions clearly crossed the line of fair play and good sportsmanship," said Vela.

"Liz's conduct on the field against BYU was completely inappropriate," said UNM Vice President for Athletics Paul Krebs. "There is no way to defend her actions."

good on the coaching staff, then. As much fun as I had watching that, she was WAY out of hand. If I had a daughter on the opposing team or was coaching them in any way and noticed the behavior I would have addressed the need to have her removed immediately with the officials.
Making a rough play to the point of getting carded is one thing, grabbing that girl by the hair away from the action like that was completely cowardly. I hope her soccer "career," is over.

Still a good vid to watch lol.

I absolutely agree on the cowardice comment, and that she should be prevented from being placed in another situation where she has the potential to damage the career of a real player with her bullshit.

While I definitely see the humor in the video and laughed at it, the potential is there for her to really destroy another player's hopes, dreams, and hard work towards them. Yanking on hair that hard and kicking towards the head could result in life altering injuries, not to mention sports career ending ones. She fullt deserves to never set foot on a sports field again. She is old enough to know better, and obviousl doesn't care.

So funny the victims were BYU, poor LDS girls getting beat up! The video is funny, but there could have been some major harm done by some of her 'moves.'

It's soccer. SOCCER! No lame ***** American Football

I haven't watched the video, but I'm pretty sure what I will see will be no worse than 30 minutes of Wayne Rooney.

EDIT: Oh shit. And I thought my play-style was brutal. That girl really is Rooney 2.0. Some of those fouls are pretty standard at European soccer but all this throughout one game? Wow. That's really a record of un-sportiness. And I thought you guys were all just overreacting.
