The irony is that I can't even get a camera job at the crappy local news station because all my jobs were freelance. This station went from rather nice cameras to these awful $50 flip-cams for the sake of convenience, so it seems any idiot should be able to get a job there.
I own a FLIP.

My problem is that the model they bought have atrocious video quality. A lot of shots for this news crew are done outside and if it's a sunny day, almost everything is completely whited out; not overly bright, but completely white. Any actions shots (sports) look like some blurry youtube video.

Meanwhile, they have some really nice $4k+ cameras sitting back at the studio .

Im majoring in Film Studies at Ohio State... They dont have a film production major so im hoping my major combined with some work i do with this pretty good student group called ReelBuckeye(Who has a credit on IMDb) can get me into a grad school where i can make some good connections. Im mostly interested in directing/cinematography/editing but im also taking some acting and writing courses to get a good idea about everything.

I do think that Los Angeles/Ca is the mecca, duh, since most of the major studios are based here.

Then you have most of the big name schools. Even some of the community colleges have amazing programs.

UCLA, USC, Art Center College of Design, Otis College of Design, Los Angeles Community College, Pasadena Community College, etc....

In addition, if you live near a community college that has a film program, or film classes, and you want a taste, apply for financial aid/fee waivers, board of governer waivers, etc.....

I'm going to school for free at the moment, and you best believe I'll be taking advantage of it.

Fantastic!

Yeah, I'm mailing for my transcripts tomorrow. I'm going to setup appointments so I can figure my "educational path". Ugh...
