4 gigs?? So I guess its not in HD either. What a piece of crap, 30$ seriously. If they made it really cheap it would make a hell of alot more sens.

4 GB is less than the files size of the DVD, which can easily be found for half that price. Who the hell do they think is gonna buy this thing?

It's more expensive.
The quality is presumably gonna be worse than DVD.
It's less convenient.
It doesn't play on your TV.

I'm struggling to see the upside here...

Wow!
What a fantastic idea.....

for gouging an unsuspecting consumer that does not know any better.
I will be sticking to my Blu Ray where I get the high quality video and audio at a cheaper price and do not have to worry about losing my movie between the cusions of the couch.

LOL why couldn't I just rip the DVD and put that on a USB? I would laugh at anyone who wasted money on this.

How does this even qualify as digital distribution?

This is still a physical medium and is no more "digital distributed" then DVD or Blu-Ray. I fail to see who is the target of this product. You can get the BD for at least $10 less or the DVD for at least half that cost. So, if you are at Wal-mart and have the $15 DVD, $20 BD and the $30 USB in your hand, which one are you going to buy? Definitely not the USB, I can tell you that. Dumb idea Paramount, very dumb. I feel bad for the uniformed consumer that may buy this thing.

I hope Disney doesn't start this because then we will have the ultimate Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital copy + USB all for the MSRP of only $69.99!

I work at OfficeMax and we sell these things. Yes it does come on a 4 gig drive but the packaging states that you also get 2 gigs of storage. That would indicate that the movies is not even near 4 gigs that is only 2 gigs which would be way lower quality then dvd. I have also read the packaging to see what format this movie comes in and nowhere on it does it state this. I have also noticed that the international dvd release comes with a digital copy. This is just a way for Paramount to get more money out of us

Kingston and Paramount have teamed up to bring the much[-]watched Transformers sequel directly to USB.
That's certainly a neutral way to describe it....

If people want to waste their money on this, I'll over them this choice: mail me the money instead!

I have two words to sescribe my opinion of this idea:

EPIC FAIL

I just can't see how anyone would see value in this product. Especially at that price point in this economy. It MIGHT be appealing to a small market if it was priced around $10.

4GB doesn't neccessarily mean poorer quality.
DVDs can only be encoded with a limited MPEG2 profile.

If the video is encoded in H.264, the quality might be better than DVD.
Using 1080p masters, 4GB is quite enough to encode 720p MPEG4/H.264/AVC with 6-channel AAC.

Of course, I cannot agree with the pricing. It's just way too damn much for a gimmicky medium. It's definitely a damn bad idea. And if they so much as mentions Windows Media, I'm just not going to ever think of getting it.

I'm gonna guess 720p AVC or WMV-HD with standard 384K DD5.1 (if it's AVC) or WMA 5.1 (if it's WMV-HD)
