Default Official NBA 2009-2010 Thread

So I thought that since there's a thread for the NFL, NCAA football, and the MLB we should get one started for the NBA.

The NBA starts tonight, and it's by far my favorite sport to watch (yes even MORE than college basketball).

I'm a Utah Jazz fan through and through, so I have hope for this season, but am not expecting much.

Hope there's more basketball fans out there that can join in on the conversation with me during the season!

i'm thinking LA and Boston...............again

i don't really have a favorite team, i used to like the bulls when i was a kid, i loved LA when they had Shaq, now i'm pretty indifferent on the whole thing

I actually think it's Cleveland's year. Cleveland and LA, that'll be an interesting Finals.

i'd say that's an excellent idea, i figured there was already one started but nope, here's the first. OF COURSE...i'm a very big and very avid celts fan and was extremely disappointed when i knew we would not win again last year, when garnett went a-tumbling down and kept delaying his comeback. not trying to start shit but the lakers didn win it fully cuz they didn't go through us...sure their team was probably better than 07-08s but are's wasn't too shabby either. i'm hoping for a red sox like reign with the celts winning 2 ships in 4 or less years. here's to it!

Your thoughts on the Celtics/Cavs game tonight then?

With Shaq in the mix for Cleveland, I'm curious to see how that ends up.

I'm curious about Cleveland as well, but I pretty much stopped watching basketball after I got to see my favorite player, Alonzo Mourning, finally get his championship. Any exposure I have anymore is the little bit I pick up on Sportscenter or see online.

I am too, because even though he's older now he's still got a presence on the floor. They brought him in to deal with Dwight Howard, and even though Shaq is no where near what Howard is, he can still stick that huge body in there and disrupt him a bit. The Cavs are gunning for a championship this year, and I think that move, bringing Shaq in, actually gives them a much better chance.

....................but think shaqs pretty much finished and has been for a few years now. he's still going to be a positive for them and still play good games but i dont see him being anything huge like he was for the heat the year they won the title. i can see tonight going either way, it'll be more of an experient and test for each team to see how they do agaisnt each other.

I think Shaq is still better than most centers in the league, and is a far more defensive threat than Illgauskus. I'm excited to see what happens.

he's definitely better than illgauskus and is one of the best centers in the league but i'd take dwight howard, chris bosh, yao, andrew bynum, and kendrick perkins....(jk) over him, still, he's a long way from the number 1 spot he used to be in. i agree though, it will be very exciting.

Lebron is kicking ass again. 3 blocks in the first half? Sheesh!

Lebron is amazing. simply, the best.

whoever gets him next year, if they have a nucleus, instant title winners in one of the next 2 years.

i'm interested in this year's Memphis Grizzlies. they fucked themselves on the Gasol trade, though Marc is a good prospect, but they are going to be the most dysfunctional squad out there, and it will be fun to be an onlooker. Mayo + Gay + Gasol + AI + Randolph, and a few more, not bad at all.

and fuck the Bulls. fuck the Celtics. lastly, fuck the Lakers. that is all.
