M.I.A. - Paper Planes

It's weird because that song is quite old, and she's retired, but now she's actually selling, she never was a major artist, always having mediocre sales. Now this gets on the iTunes top 10 haha.

I felt the song worked really well with the trailer. They did a good job picking something unique and memorable.

I don't think I really like the song by itself, though. Weird how that works!

She's not retired. She's working on a new album.

This boycott was started out of respect for the artist. As we all know...Sony or MM don't have any.

In more hopeful news, the singer hinted at a forthcoming record to NYMag.com: "I've been writing on tour. I'm really into writing new songs. I'm going to put out a new record instead [of touring]. At the end of the day, I'm here, you know."

I think it's silly to think she's retiring. You can read between the lines. She's just exhausted, and canceled her tour. She'll work on her album instead, because it's calmer, and less stressful.

She basically states this in the interviews leading up to it.

The "time and date" doesn't really change that. It just means she was slower at announcing the other cancellations.

No offense, but she sucks anyway. Paper Planes is really her only good song in my opinion. I mean come on, all the other songs are really ghetto pop sounding and really terribly written("Boyz"? please.)

Plus she can't sing.

A lot of the beats and synths are good, and have a unique sound. I'll give her that. It's just the writing and her singing that are terrible.

She announced she's retiring so if she backs out now i lose even more respect for her(it would almost seem like now that she's making money off of paper planes she wants to bank in with a new album).

Galang or something was a good song, they used in Honda Civic Commercials I believe, can't remember. As for her retirement thing, she made a pretty good case that she's done performing at least, mentioning quite a few times it was her last gig, and thanks for coming to her last show. It could mean last show for a while, but she didn't have to point that out numerous times.
