This stuff is pretty interesting. Lots of people have been playing around with this technology. It sure would change the world if this ever becomes a reality.

There's a third project the DoD is working on (or at least one of our Defense Contractors) The Future Armor has a technology they're trying to perfect in the way of "Mist"... the helmet records the image behind it, and transmits that image on a stream of mist in front of the soldier cloaking them and allowing them to attack through a shield of invisiblity... still in the working stages of course... but pretty wild a concept.

Want wild? Read up on the US Military and Nano technology. In 50 years, the average soldiers clothing will detect a bullet hit and suddenly harden to repel it and then soften immediately. The clothing will act as nano muscle tissue and the average solider could flip a car!

I remember reading back awhile ago about this thing, at least I think it was this, the armor is made out of some sort of metallic powder that 'solidifies' when energy is applied to it. The actual material is very flexible and light, but becomes harder than steel when a bullet (or fast moving object) hits it. We're going to see some crazy shit in the future...

What sucks is that if it ever is possible that only the military is going to know about it or have access to it.

Considering you posted that in a thread about invisibility devices on an Internet forum...you may want to re-think that statement. Although, I am sure that there will be a window of time where such technology is solely available to the military and those who shop at the black market (you know, that tent towards the back of the Wal-Mart parking lot).

I'm thinking stuff of this nature will only be reserved for the cream of the crop when it comes to military and intelligence gathering. A lot of our soldiers don't have proper armor as it is right now. There is no way that our government would splerge and give every soldier something like this.
