Default anybody know alot about laptops?

if so I got a question

I just bought this laptop it has a amd turion x2 ultra 64 2.1 ghz

4 gb ram

3200 hd ati vid card

the intel equivalent was a centrino core 2 duo 2.0 ghz

same ram

nvidia card i think

is there a big difference in performance or would it be neglible?

I won't use it for hardcore games and mostly use it for browing net and basic stuff, use it for some work as well but nothing too crazy

also is the battery life very different between intel and amd?

I read amd is worse but I just wanna know how much worse

thanks

Go for the cheaper of the two. If you're not planning on putting it to the test, there's no sense in buying the bigger horse when each will easily get you across the finish line.

AMD chips tend to run at a cooler temp and I would say that the drain on battery life is nothing to be concerned about (you won't notice the difference).

The Turion processor sucks and it gets too hot--I know from personal experience. Stick with the one with the Core 2 Duo, it's a much better machine.

And AMD has actually gotten better, but that doesn't keep their mobile processors from sucking. I had to buy a 12-cell battery for my old Turion machine because it sucked up the battery so fast.

i hear that turions run very hot and use a lot of power. the core 2 duo will also most likely out perform the turion.

if you don't mind about battery life and the turion version was cheaper, then you most likely make a good choice

I would go with the Centrino over the Turion personally. Centrino's were initially made to conserve power.

centrino is not a processor, its a platform

there is no such thing as an intel centrino processor

For Laptops I would definitely stick with an Intel processor. I've had an AMD desktop for years without any problems, but they can't seem to duplicate that same quality/longevity for laptops I find.
