Default Cool OS X (Mac) Programs...

I stole this idea from whoever created the same titled thread for Windows...

For some reason I like to run multiple browsers, Firefox/Opera/Safari/Camino all at the same time (I know it's crazy) and just discovered another cool browser called Songbird.

It is a Mozilla based browser that fuses with iTunes for a cool new experience. I literally just found it so I don't know all the features yet, but I recommend it for those adventurous enough to drop Safari/Firefox for a day or two .

I also use Adium for IM purposes, AWESOME program for us Mac-ers...among other programs.

Anyways, what cool programs do you have for Mac???

I don't use too many downloads because more often than not OS X already has the thing I need..... but, I would whole heartedly recommend VLC for all your video-playback needs. It plays most video codecs (including that pesky .avi) without a hitch.

As far as programs go I have,

1. Shake 4.1

2. Adobe CS3

3. Z-Brush

4. Maya

5. SketchBook Pro

I'll be getting Final Cut Studio next.

Since my background is in SPFX makeup, I'm transitioning that into cg(i)

I have MacPro.

I love my Mac!

I can get a student discount on Maya. I'm reaaaaally looking into expanding my abilities and going into 3D animation. The Academic version of Maya gets on my nerves.

CS3 rocks and everything, and it's a huge leap from PS7 to CS3. The experience is nice, but I miss the simplicity of PS7.

My iMac is two years old, but man that thing is an amazing machine. I really need to re-organize my room and buy a new desk.

I can too. Right now, I'm using the PSE version. It's all I need until I get better at it. Man, it's such a dense program!

No kidding. And I'm using the PLE version as well. It's amazing what you can do with it. I even brought my iMac to work so I could work it Maya on my spare time.

If you draw, Sketchbook Pro is so much fun.

You can take your iMac to work? Nice!

I'm the last of my siblings to switch to Apple. One sister has an Imac and a MacBook Pro, and an other sister has an Imac. I have a MacPro. I hear the new MacBooks are getting ready to hit before the year ends.

Also, "Phenomenon" is going to replace Shake 4.1, which sucks, because I haven't learned Shake yet! It's also going to be expensive like Shake was when it first came out.

Yeah, I've got my iMac running as a jukebox right now. I've been making some small scenes, too. That machine renders so much faster than my PC. I just need to toss my Bamboo Fun sometime and get a much bigger tablet. I'm really looking forward to a new Macbook Pro sometime in the future, though. I'll probably wait until the next announcement, you know how Jobs likes to piss everyone off by announcing more awesome computers.

And I did download Sketchbook Pro after you had suggested it. I really like it.

I'm not much into video production, but Shake 4.1 should hold you off for long enough. I'd wait until the second revision of a product before buying it, anyways.

I wouldn't even want a Cintiq. I'd be afraid that I would break it!
