Hi, I'm Rick... and I'm a DVDaholic
New here. Wanted to introduce myself
the names Rick. I've got over 1000 DVDs but just got my 1st 4 HD DVDs yesterday (happy birthday to me)
I bought a HDTV 6 years ago. (55" Mitsubishi widescreen - 1080i). I believe the only channel with continuous HD broadcasting at that time was HDnet. It has certainly come a long way since then. With the exception of a couple of SciFi shows I don't even bother with TV unless it's a HD broadcast
Unfortunately I still have that TV and have not jumped into the 1080p market. That is planned for this year. As well as an amplifier upgrade (currently have a Yamaha 6.1 receiver)
I have the HD DVD add-on to the XBox 360. Works great with the TV and receiver I have. Can't wait till the end of the year to see it all in 1080p. Maybe there will be a player that supports both HD formats by then and I can get one of those as well.
A friend pointed me to this site for HD DVD info. So far I like what I see. I'll be lurking for a while, posting when I get the urge.

Welcome to the forum!
1000 DVDs?! I have a few hundred and I thought I had a big collection.
There is. LG is releasing one February 1st. It's $1,999, but worth it if you want an all-in-one solution rather than 2 separate players. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Searc...&go.x=0&go.y=0Can't wait till the end of the year to see it all in 1080p. Maybe there will be a player that supports both HD formats by then and I can get one of those as well.
But if you already have the HD DVD add-on, maybe you could just get a PS3. They you will have gotten both for less than the price of that player. Not to mention you will have another console."The war is not over"
Universal, now Paramount...FOX anyone?

Jeez, guys I've got over 2,000 in regular DVDs and I own 16, now HD DVD's. I am selling some online currently, although you don't get much for them, but enough to put toward a few more HD DVD's.
I've been collecting since 1997. Young Frankenstein was my first. And Star Ship troopers.. -

Thanks Mal. My set has had an excellent picture since I brought it home. Unfortunately it is starting to show some burn it on the sides. Not noticeable to most who watch it but to me it's a big huge line. That's all I see sometimes.
(Actually it's only visible when watching something like Hockey, with the white ice background.)
The biggest decision I have now is to go with a projector or not

Welcome to the forum Rick. I also just joined this month. Anyways thats one hell of a dvd collection with over 1000. I have about 200 and I thought I has lots. Anyways like someone above said start buying lots of HD-DVDs and hopfuly it will help see an end to this HD war.
As for 1080p I also want one. I think later this year I may sell my CRT Toshiba and get a Samsung LCD 1080p. We'll see.
Tomorrow is payday for me and I might go pick up two more HD-DVDs along with Lost Planet for my 360.MY HD DVD COLLECTION:
