Default Goozex - Movie Trading Site Introduction

Hey everyone,

I wanted to give a quick introduction about Goozex, repeat the details of the current promotion here on High-Def Digest, and help answer any questions you guys may have.

For the past three years Goozex has been known as the place to get the best value for your video games, trade them with other members, earn Goozex Points, and get other games for only $1. In August we extended our trading service into movie trading. We now support movie trading for DVD, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and UMD formats for US and Canadian members.

In short, Goozex connects members across the country and let's them trade their movies and games for Goozex Points, which they can use to get other items for only $1. We are a hassle-free service and we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service in case you need it.

The pricing of movies and games is done by our patented algorithm and takes into account internal supply & demand, msrp of the item, and release date. And how it works is pretty simple. Let's say you offer Dark Knight on DVD. The system will automatically match you with a buyer and after you agree to send the movie we will transfer 200 points, the current price of the movie, from the buyer account to yours. At the same time you offered Dark Knight, let's say you requested Iron Man, which is valued at 150 points. With the 200 points earned for sending Dark Knight you will get matched with a seller for Iron Man and someone will send you their copy directly. You keep Iron Man and do with it as you want -- it is now your copy!

Real quick about the promo we are running here. Through October 12, 2009 we are running a PlayStation 3 Slim giveaway contest. On October 13, 2009 we will select the random winners and notify them by email. It is real easy to enter in the contest. Simply go to Goozex.com and use coupon code: HDDigest at sign-up.

I'll be happy to answer any questions that pop up here and you can always follow us on twitter.com/goozex

Happy trading!
-Goozex

Ok here is a question...
I put sone Blurays up..BAM! Got 4 requests right away.
Only issue is all the stuff I want I am like 8 or higher in que. Its seems a HUGE crapshoot...once I trade it, its gone.

NOW here is the question. If someone in the que ahead of me does not have enough points, do I get it ahead of them?

If someone doesn't have enough points, they are passed over for a trade. So yes, you would get it before them.

Using points keeps money from changing hands which might be appealing to people who only want to trade.

Goozex is great at first...but you soon realize that all the good movies have a 10+ waiting list on them and no one is offering them up. I've shipped out 9 movies and received 3 back while I have thousands of points and my 'want' list looks like it will never shrink. Just realize that you may be sitting on points for a while. The only chance you have of getting a movie is logging in right when they get added to the site (if they get added - they tend to not do everything) and hope you get in first spot.

Again great idea, but they need to work something out because I took down just about all my movies because I'm not going to pay $2 to ship them out and sit on thousands of worthless points.

If there were even past trades on movies I'm interested in I would sign up. But almost every movie I'd consider as a "want" has never been traded.

It will be interesting to see how things change when more people start to join the site. I might sign up in a few months if more obscure DVDs start getting offered.

Maybe if we cot all the guys with the trade threads to join BUT hold off on trades until the numbers jumped it could work. There is wat too much weird trading (titlte holding thinking its worth so much more than another title etc.) out here and the points could help movies move...

Say what? Money, changing hands? Well, it's way too complicated. No offense but I'll stick to my old and trusty HiDefDigest forum.

same here. i'd rather have money or movies, than "points"

a mod has stickied this thread, so that it does not take up one of the 20 main page posts. this way, the thread is not in anyone's way, so no complaining.

I fail to see the value being offered here, no offense to the OP, but what is the value proposition to use this site and wait in a queue to use my points I cannot use anywhere else instead of dealing with someone directly on a supply/demand/price basis and dealing in widely accepted currency where applicable?

I guess in short, why would I want to use this site instead of just doin it up? I am not seeing advantages here to outwiegh the inconveniences.

The value is...you gotta get up real early and be the first in line if you want something. That's it.

Let me try to tackle all the points/questions made:

w3bby -- Yes, you can skip ahead of people in the queue ahead of you if they have some kind of trade restriction like lack of points or tokens. You can actually see this data by clicking on the Trading Info tab for a specific movie.

Gutz -- the purpose of the points system is like as was mentioned -- to keep cash out of the transaction process. In the long-run it helps lower the trade barrier if you take out the risk of losing cash in a trade, if it were to go south and needed the attention of our customer service.

Gunyaga -- here are our main value propositions as compared to direct trading, eBay, etc.
1) You get a fair value for your movie/game
2) It saves you money! If you exchange the real value of your items you can get comparable value items for only $1. Many of our members have save hundreds to thousands of dollars per year by trading on Goozex. We have a calculator page up on the About Goozex link (sorry can't post links when under 30 posts here)
3) We're hassle free -- there is no bartering, no haggling, no negotiating, no setting up an auction page, no losing out on a bid
4) We've got one of the largest libraries of movies and games anywhere in the world. As of today we have over 9,700 movie titles and 11,000 game titles. You can find a break down of this on our available movies/games section.
5) We offer a really safe way to get games and movies -- if a trade doesn't go your way, we have an advanced customer service system that will ultimately refund you points if you didn't get the movie, it was broken, or it was the wrong one received.

Arkadin -- lol, our name is short for "Goods Exchanged" -- this is something we've had to explain to all the journalists in interviews from the Washington Post, Forbes, Ars Technica, Today Show and others.
