Hey guys,
Thanks for the feedback. A few points to the issues raised: 1. We recognize the limited supply of blu-rays for trading and we are working hard to promote our movie trading. Running ads and a promotion on places like here is part of our marketing strategy. It's also the first time we've targeted non-gaming communities. As we continue to get more members we expect to see the increase in supply of all products, including blu-ray. Two places to check back to see what's available are the following links: Top Movie List <blasted -- still can't post URLs in my post> Select "Most Offered" and then filter to the platform you'd like at the bottom. You can find this link on the bottom left of the Goozex pages Advanced Search The link is just below the search bar on the left. Select the filters you want, including supply and you're done. 2. The points system is designed to give you the fair value of your items. The pricing algorithm takes into account internal supply/demand, current MSRP, release date and other factors. If your movie is worth $15 used, then our pricing should come close in matching that value. Making different point systems for different products like DVD, Blu-Ray, and Games would put a huge strain and complicate the system. The reality is that many DVDs are just not worth more than $5 on the used market and used Blu-rays typically fall between $15 - $20. 3. Running those promos is a great idea. We've dropped the $1 trade token fee before and is something we'd consider doing again. Perhaps for the holiday season. The 10% bonus is another good idea, and one thing we'd have to figure in is how to limit the inflation of "free" points entering the system with that. |

Always refreshing to see 'names' respond to our comments and address any concerns. Hopefully supply will pickup soon so I can take my items off of hold.
Another thing, and maybe its there, is there any way (like a checkbox) to deleted mass items? Its kind of a pain to delete/hold one item at a time and then have the page refresh at the top again.

You would essentially have to track how many free points you gave away by creating a free points bank. Then I'm assuming that whenever you trade a new item provided by Goozex, that you have a cost you paid for the item, plus some mark-up for profit. So in the future, you pay back the free points bank by essentially (in a bean counter sort of way) giving away the new merchandise to reabsorb the free points. So you put your $$$ into the promotion by putting in merchandise. This only works assuming that over time, users do trade for items directly from Goozex. I also don't think the point system accomodates for fair market value, over your given pool of tradeable items (DVD, BD, and Games). You essentially have a seperate point system for each type of item now, which is why I was saying you loose out so much trying to trade games or DVD's in for BD's. For example, I can trade a copy of Paparazzi on DVD for 100 points. It commonly sells used for $.75 or less. But then to the other spectrum, a copy of Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture Director's cut commonly sells for $7-$10, but Goozex only gives the same 100 points. Likewise, I can trade a copy of Battalion Wars 2 for the Wii, and I get 200 points. It commonly sells used for $10-$12. Further, there are several BD's (Robocop, Righteous Kill, Rambo, etc.) that commonly sell used for $6-$8 used that are 250 points on Goozex. BD's that commonly sell for $15 only get 350 points. The result is not a unified system that provides a fair market value, transferable across all mediums. What you currently have is a system that assigns a fair market value that is only fair as long as you stay within the same medium (trade games for games, DVD's for DVD's, and Blu-rays for Blu-rays). Examples are being able to trade a $15 BD to get 3 $.75 DVD's or 3 $8 DVD's. Neither trade is fair to all parties. Or I can trade a $12 game and not even have enough points to get a $8 Blu-ray. I would need to trade a $6 game and a $12 game to have enough points to get a $8 blu-ray (trading both still wouldn't get me enough to trade for a $15 Blu-ray. Your pricing algorithim needs alot of work and has much to be desired, when it comes to cross platform trading. Your system may have worked when it was games only, but it is broken now with the addition of Blu-ray and DVD. It is why I think you need more diversity. Maybe say the cheapest DVD is $1 or 100 points, with single title releases going as high as $10 used or 1000 points. Boxsets and seasons go go beyond that. Then the minimum game is $5 or 500 points, and goes all the way to 5000 points, again with boxsets and limited editions going as high as 10,000-12,000 points. Then Blu-rays (at least for now) also with a $ 5 minimum, or 500 points and going up to 2000 points on single title releases, with boxsets and seasons going beyond that. Basically $1 in value = 100 points for any item, regardless of the type of media. Last edited by KYThrill : 10-12-2009 at 12:38 PM. |

IDK I think the points are pretty transferable from games to movies. It really just depends on the specific title. Some titles aren't worth sending in but some are.
I just signed up for the site 2 weeks ago and racked up 1850 points sending in 3 DS games, 1 Blu-ray and 1 HD DVD. That's like $90 worth, way more than I would have gotten from selling them. A lot of the games I want are pretty cheap on Goozex so I'm set.

You should see more people using it for movies in the next 6 months or so. This could be your chance to hop on the wait queue for some catalog titles that you're not in a rush to get.

Hi Ryusei,
We have an algorithm running in the background that assigns point values to items. It takes into account the list price, release date, internal supply & demand, and other variables to calculate the point price. The value of Goozex is that it is one of the largest library of movies and games out there. In addition to requesting movies and games that you know you want, you may also want to check out the top 10 lists (bottom left of most goozex pages) and see what are the most available. We are also rolling out the new Goozex Exchange. In the next several weeks new features will be added to it to make it more open to more members. Finally, we'll be unveiling a new Instant Match system as well that will help users navigate and quickly get movies and games they want. I hope that helps! |

Please change the Battlestar Gallactica Complete Blu-ray Series point value. It is currently 1200 points ($60). It should be around 3000 points ($150) points or higher. It retails for $349.99. Amazon sells it for $200.

due to space constraints in BD area, moved thread here.
goozex is bigger on game trading than movie, as per their own advertising, so this is a good spot to post.
