The thing that has kept me from joining goozex over the past few years, is having to buy trade tokens. There are so many free trade sites which give people the option to buy a membership or not, i just never saw the point in forcefully paying money on top of the postage i'm already paying, just to trade.

Gutz -- the purpose of the points system is like as was mentioned -- to keep cash out of the transaction process. In the long-run it helps lower the trade barrier if you take out the risk of losing cash in a trade, if it were to go south and needed the attention of our customer service.

Gunyaga -- here are our main value propositions as compared to direct trading, eBay, etc.
1) You get a fair value for your movie/game
2) It saves you money! If you exchange the real value of your items you can get comparable value items for only $1. Many of our members have save hundreds to thousands of dollars per year by trading on Goozex. We have a calculator page up on the About Goozex link (sorry can't post links when under 30 posts here)
3) We're hassle free -- there is no bartering, no haggling, no negotiating, no setting up an auction page, no losing out on a bid
4) We've got one of the largest libraries of movies and games anywhere in the world. As of today we have over 9,700 movie titles and 11,000 game titles. You can find a break down of this on our available movies/games section.
5) We offer a really safe way to get games and movies -- if a trade doesn't go your way, we have an advanced customer service system that will ultimately refund you points if you didn't get the movie, it was broken, or it was the wrong one received.

Arkadin -- lol, our name is short for "Goods Exchanged" -- this is something we've had to explain to all the journalists in interviews from the Washington Post, Forbes, Ars Technica, Today Show and others.

I got it now. The only downfall is your can't apply your points to anything else but future trades. If you could redeem them towards some gift certificates or super discount codes then it would be cool.

Actually makes quite a bit of sense now that you say that...

Say "Goods Exchanged" really fast. Do it.

Now it makes sense.

Goozex - any chance of adding more DVD/Blu-ray/HD DVDs? I noticed some were missing (Echelon Conspiracy for example).

Gutz -- your point is well taken and that's why this Friday we're relaunching our Goozex Exchange program whereby you can redeem points for brand new movies and games. Check our forums for more details on that.

GizmoDVD -- Movie trading is in Beta and our content is coming from Muze, a third party vendor for the graphics and upc database codes. If the movie is missing it could be because Muze doesn't have it and we need to tell them, or we purposely removed it like X rated movies.

We allow all MPAA ratings including NC 17. We don't want adult titles because it negatively affects our brand and really, and the parent segment that let's their kids come to Goozex will leave. We recognize the opportunity there, but we're willing to forgo it.

I like that Gutz comment!

And thanks. I figured you were pulling the database from another source.

interesting idea... but as someone pointed out earlier... if your worried about loosing $$ then this works for you, but i've NEVER had any bad experiences in the 60+ deals i've made here and on bluray.com so no reason for me to be looking elsewhere for anything. the whole "fake points" system would be what potentially holds you guys back and waiting lists... seems pretty out of someones hands as to whether they get theirs wants list or not and more in the sites control + luck.

ok, we've had some smarty pants stuff going on in here.

In the vendor section of the site, we'd not allow it, and this is, in a sense, the same thing.

express your thoughts on Goozex, questions on the service, experiences, and so on. if you don't think it's your bag, say so, that's fine, and be done. if your divorced parent got remarried, and the only things you'd ever say to your stepmom was negative and snide, any time he brought her up, or she said something, you'd get an ass whoopin'. plain and simple.

you still might.
