The rumors are actually pretty strong. We know it is pretty much a given. Each time a new format comes out the well knowns will eventually release.

Two movies that were once very popular but today will likely seem badly dated. The idea that aliens from outer space will be friendly just won't resonate with today's audience.

I have never seen 'Close Encounters', but I can attest that 'E.T.' is still a major masterpiece that has aged like fine wine.

Agreed, 100%. Close Encounters isn't as good as E.T. IMHO, but certainly worth seeing (and owning). It's driving me crazy that Sony hasn't told us whether the CE3K release will again have the different cuts of the film or will only feature the Director's Cut. I'm *really* hoping for the former.

I added Close Encounters in the Amazon Japan thread.

    Google translated:
UHD BD / BD This edition includes all three versions (135 minutes original theater version / 132 minutes special edition / 137 minutes final cut version) all. An explanation track that displays differences by version on the screen is selectable. The sound of UHD BD is DTS-HD master audio 5.1 ch (English), Dolby Digital 5.1 ch (Japanese). Benefits of UHD BD are version comparison commentary, cast & staff, video clip collection.
