Default Lionsgate Q1 DVD, Blu-ray sales jump 47%

Once again, Lionsgate's got nothing but good news when it comes to Blu-ray. This is, I think, the 3rd or 4th quarter in a row they've gone out of their way to point out Blu-ray as a significant factor in their revenue. It's almost as if it's a trend or something.
Quote:
Lionsgate’s fiscal first-quarter home-entertainment revenue jumped 47% on titles such as Rambo, The Eye and 3:10 to Yuma, allowing the studio to gain traction in a flattening DVD market while turning a profit.

Lionsgate’s home entertainment revenue, which jumped to $152.2 million for the quarter ended June 30 from $103.8 million a year earlier, also “reflected significant and growing contributions from strong Blu-ray high-definition disc sales,” the company said.

I think Lionsgate is one of the best studios when it comes to Blu-Ray pricing. Hopefully, Fox, MGM, Paramount, and Dreamworks will take note...

Especially for catalog titles...

I like how Disney includes the $10 mail-in rebate in a lot of their catalog titles. That usually cuts the price in half.

I like this too. I have taken advantage of this multiple times. Many of my Disney catalog titles were picked up for $12 or less after the rebate. Of course I double dipped, but it was a no brainer for some of the titles since they are so much better on Blu-Ray.

The trend is indeed toward a lower pricing scheme (First Run Features will be have some very interesting pre-orders announced).
