Default 33.7 Million Blu-ray Disc's to be sold in 2008

In the most recent HMM: here
( http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/ques...startpage=1#/8 ) the chart on page 7.

Adams Media Research projects 33.7 million BD discs sold this year generating $960.7 million in consumer spending. (DVD is also listed and the Chart goes to 2011.)

(I dont have a way of uploading the picture so it can be shown but the chart is in the attachment, if someone can in their reply that would be nice and I will try to put it in this one.)

Wow. Looks like Blu-Ray, by 2011, is estimated to do almost double what Internet, DD, VOD, etc will do. And that number is not even comparing HD to HD. If it did, Blu-Ray's estimates would be much higher. As a whole, optical media just is not going anywhere.. So much for all this "time is slipping away for Blu-Ray" nonsense...

If I am not mistaken, this is the same group that predicted in 2007 that Warner would go Blu-Ray exclusive and HD DVD would die off....

Very very optimistic projection in my opinion especially considering the POOR state of our ecomony here in the U.S. currently.

Well, DD, VOD, etc are not exactly taking the world by storm either... My point is that if these estimates are even close, optical media (BD/DVD) are here to stay.

I think Blu-ray will sell about 26 million units this year.

LMAO . . .

This is the same Adams Research that predicted that there would be two formats in 2011.

Is it REALLY that difficult to say, oh great, it looks like Blu-ray really is going to establish itself.

We all know these are projections, but the format does look like it's onwards and upwards.

These guys are way off target. There is no way that 33.7 million BD's could be sold. I think the maximum possible in 2008 is 33.6 million of them.

Honestly - it's just a prediction - nothing to get too worked up over. You would think this guy has more info on the topic than you and me and is making an educated guess. We'll all have to wait and see if his estimate is insane or comes in close to correct.
