Default DVD VS Blu-Ray-Eproduct wars

On eproduct wars, they have now stopped doing vs and now there comparing blu's real competitor DVD,on Amazon. Needless to say Blu-ray is getting hamered, although the site hasnt updated very well yet on the standard DVD side. Still it'll be quite intersting to see how this progresses and if Blu-ray can win any days. I also wonder if other places will copy this idea, e.g. Nielsen.

I don't see a day in the near future that a day and date release on both dvd and blu-ray that the blu-ray version will come out on top.

In sales you right, but this is in regards to Amazon, and that has already kind of happened, I am Legend BD has consistently ranked above its DVD versions. I know rankings dont mean anything but still.

Unless you're 60 or something, I think that day may come faster than you think....

And Warner has stated that they were disappointed with this titles overall sales.

It was sold cheaper than most new titles on BD as well as HD DVD.
The sales of this title are no indication of any trend.

I think we might see certain new releases in Blu do better than dvd.

Unfortunately it will be a very long time for overall sales of to overtake dvd.

What!?, if you follow the Nielsen thread you see the worked out to be a little under 10% of I am Legend's DVD sales. Warner were dispointed with the sales overall becuase the film earned $250M. However the reception of the film didnt match its box office, so like Spiderman 3 before it, it underpeformed on DVD. Sales are 350% up from this time last year and titles are selling at 10% of their DVD counterpart istead of 2% last year. That is a Trend.

If you're referring to Amazon only, then I'd say you won't have to wait too long. Amazon is clearly where a good chunk of BD owners buy discs due to the lowest average prices. Unfortunately their DVD prices are typically at or slightly above what Wal-Mart or Circuit City charges during release week, so they're much less competitive there.

Now if you're referring to total sales at retail... yeah, that's gonna take a while for sure.
