Ummm, ever hear of firesales? They generally sell much better when slashed to a couple bucks a title.

James: Your statements are an excellent example of a strawman argument.

WTF????

What failed?

His point was HD DVD is selling well on Amazon, which it is. Of course it's due to the sales but it's not like he argued it meant anything.

The "fail" rebuttals lately are getting old!

looks like hd dvd owners stay up late, and blu-ray owners get up early, b/c it's changed.

am I allowed to say "sour grapes" or "QQ" to this, or are those reserved for blu-ray fans only?

It's certainly interesting (in a slightly nerdy way), seeing the effect that the discounts are having upon sales of HD DVD on Amazon. I wonder how long it'll be before HD DVD owners will have maxed out their collections and those sales ranks start to tumble.

It's also interesting seeing the apparent decline in BD sales ranks; are BD owners (and prospective owners) now waiting for prices to drop, are new PS3 releases giving them better things to do ( ), have some of them decided to take advantage of the HD DVD firesales, or have they found better deals elsewhere instead of on Amazon?

Amazon #'s mean nothing. They have hbeen proven time after time to be misleading. And if you look up how they do there rankings you will see why.

I would put money that this is due to the price drops. And these are sales ranks which doesn't hold much aside from selling more than recently

Wow! All HD DVD had to do was slash player prices by half and movie prices by 60%, and it finally gets some sales ranks. Here Toshiba and the studios thought they could actually turn a profit on HD DVD in the long run, but its clear their fans weren't willing to support the format until they were giving everything away.

Bravo HD DVD supporters, you stopped warming the bench after you already lost the game, but don't let that stop you from bragging about how you ran the ball down the field when the other team was on the podium with the trophy.

I know someone who has recently won a HD DVD player and 100 movies from Amazon.

Talk about timing

You would have thought that they would change the prize to Blu Ray (or give them the choice).

Also seems like they don't get to choose the movies, the package is on it's way now via UPS.
