Default 'American Gangster' HD DVD Tops VideoScan Chart, week ending 2/24

This has been mentioned in other threads, but I'm giving it a dedicated thread, as we've just posted a story about it. Here's a preview

Quote:
Blu-ray may have officially won the high-def format war last week, but in a strange twist, the top selling high-def disc of the week was an HD DVD release.

No one going to come in and say, "HD DVD is the superior format"?

Yeah, they are so pathetic that they beat HD-DVD overall at almost 3 to 1.

I gotta say this makes me smile. HD DVD forever!

sidestory about AG:

I went to FYE to buy American Gangster HDDVD used for 25.99, with 40% off, and noticed that ALL the new product was marked at $14.99. I was like "hell yeah", looking closer that they put the price tag for some stand up comedy DVD on the new AG HD DVD product. Well, their fault, i'll take advantage. When I went to the register to pay, it rang up for $7.99!!!!!

I was estatic, I love stuff like that happens, which is rarely. .
New 40$ HD movie for $8, SCORE!!!

You are kidding me right? So blu-ray has only sold discs because of the BOGOs? Please stop talking....

One title (which is actually an incredibly good movie sold a good amount of discs- if I had a HD player, I'd still have bought it), however you think the bd sales are "pathetic" though they still sold 3 to 1, and has been doing so all year even before HD through in the towel. Also those stupid BOGO... you know.... definitely were available every single week for the last 14 months and is the only reason why HD never won a single week in software sales.

Shame bd and their gimmicks. Booby I hope your fanboyism dies like your format. (Name mispelled on purpose, lol)

Now if they can just hold out a little bit longer maybe Disney will go neutral.

Correction, over 3:1.

There is a typo in the HDD article stating that BD had 74% market share for the week when all other sources are reporting 77:23.

That's 3.34:1 despite not even having the top title for the week (that went on sale the day of Toshiba's announcement).
