It's for movies and its due to the new $11.95 sale Amazon is having on many HD DVDs.

Also Beowulf is helping isn't doing too bad.

it's sales rank of top ten.
and, the phrase "fire sale" has been tossed around this forum a lot in the past, but that is clearly an appropriate description here.

I would agree with the firesale description, however, for a dead format...sales seem to be pretty darn good.

Maybe this will open the eyes of a few studios and continue releasing a few titles or maybe not.

And where were those sales when they were selling for somewhere near their normal price? If they had been there, HD DVD wouldn't be in the boat it's in right now.

Well I would do the same if I owned a HD DVD Player. It's probably the last chance to get all the movies you'd want for a bargain...

It is for movies....they have most titles on sale with some discounted over 60% off (Top Gun $11.99 , Transformers $18) and many other titles for $14.99. There are also over 30 WB titles with 50% off too.

This is my friends what a firesale looks like, however, I would expect Amazon to sell HDDVDs for no more than $10 if they really want to be nice to all the HDDVD consumers, why not give a 75% discount on everything since they are phasing out HDDVD eventually.
