We could enlist all those former HD DVD fanboys to petition the studios to only sell a 2-disc box set containing both a DVD and Blu-ray disc in the same case and to stop DVD-only releases...

I doubt I will check out the sales section again.

The only news I'm interested in hearing now, is what Paramount and Uni have planned for the future. I wouldn't mind if hi-def became mainstream, however, I think we'll be stuck somewhere inbetween laserdisc and DVD. As long as all studios support day and date releases and pepper some cool catalog titles once in a while (there are only a few I would re-buy any way), then I'm a happy consumer.

Quentin Tarantino, Four Rooms. (How apt for smackdown)

I'm actually looking forward to weeks on end of 98:2, followed by more weeks of 97:3, then a few weeks of 96:4...

...I guess that's just me, then?

On second thoughts, maybe a quarterly summary will suffice.

To be fair this section has been pretty dead since Jan 4th anyway. I would like to see it continue to discuss Blu-ray sales in comparisson to DVD though.

Yes. I can still see how customers react to the numbers... and see how Blu-ray faces DVD.

IMO it wont need a separate forum. a 'Blu-ray business forum' will be usefull for most format news.

No, lets dump it and not give a forum for people to stir up trouble.

Sales rank section would be fine, just take it out the smackdown.

As others have said this sub-forum should stay, however percentages from Nielsen are pointless now. We need real numbers from Nielsen more often so we can see Blu-rays growth over the coming months and how it compares to DVD.

The site I work for is working on it. However, until the numbers grow, it is just too hard to get accurate numbers.
