#8 American Gangster

HDDVD is on a roll.

According to the charts, Zodiac is the best at #20. It's gone up in the past few hours, but as of 7:30 PM, it's

#10 Planet Earth Blu-ray
#20 Zodiac
#29 I am Legend BD
#34 Planet Earth HD
#35 Across the Universe
#46 Celine Dion
#62 Blade Runner BD
#75 American Gangsters
#82 No Country for Old Men
#99 Transformers

Or was this the kind of roll that lasts for only 30 seconds and is documented nowhere?

I can't keep up with you HD DVD guys.

So now Amazon matters again?

Guess which format has 6 of the top 10 without any 50% off sales?

Hint: Its the same format with Planet Earth in the sales rank top 10, no sales or BOGOs needed.

He's going by the top 10 selling HDM products, since there's no way those titles will ever get back into the sales rank top 10 again unless they're given away.

Well, what do you expect when Amazon puts 147 HD DVD titles (Wow.... almost 1/3 of the total catalog*) at 50% off. Oddly enough, Zodiac is the only title to be able to outsell Celine Dion. Now THAT is something to be proud of!

* 1/3 of catalog figure was tabulated by removing such exciting titles such as "Flatscreen Fireplace," "High Def Couch Vacations," and "Aquarium That You Don't Have To Clean" and is just an estimation.

oh my god, how is this possible?!? oh, wait, 50% off.
but what will the ramifications be on the weekly nielsen numbers?! oh, that's right; nothing. amazon sales don't matter in the weekly numbers.

I've seen Planet Earth HD DVD on the bestsellers for the longest time now. But a little FYI: Planet Earth HD DVD is not doing that well compared to Blu-ray at ALL. Blu-ray has been outselling it by about 14:1 or more for the last 3 weeks according to data from the Nielsen numbers.

amazon's bestsellers mean very little, and you people should know this. You can have 'em.

As many times as it's been proven Amazon numbers don't mean or prove anything, why do people still keep trying to pretend that they do?

Because highdefdigest uses them on the Blu-ray vs HDDVD section.

Default Seems that Sales Do Drive HDM Sales - HD DVD rebounds on BOGOF

Looks as if sales and new releases have more to do with HDM product sales than anything. With no blue ray sales today, you see sales trend down.

I think you need to check the top 100. Top 100 paints a more accurate picture than top 10.

An Items that aren't on sale paint are more accurate picture than those that are. I guarentee the next time has a similar size sale you'll se at least 30 titles in the top 100 on Amazon.

HD-DVD also has the top 13 on the movers & shakers list.

How many more times do we have to suffer the same thread about Amazon rankings, right after another BOGO is launched?

Blu-ray consistently sells well on Amazon, which is traditionally stronger for HD-DVD relative to B&M stores, HD-DVD's like a bloody roller coaster, up and down depending on sales.

Top 100, last 30 days.
