Default Happy WB 85th: HD DVD Player Returns Outnumber New Stock

Quote:
BURBANK -- Word working its way around the Warner Bros. 85th anniversary event on the studio lot Tuesday night was that some electronics retailers are being flooded with returns of HD DVD players.
In fact, so many are being returned that some retailers are in possession of more returned HD DVD players than new stock.
I won't tell you who said what or which retailers we're talking about, but I will tell you that execs from Amazon.com and Best Buy were in attendance.

If these returned players are in "new" condition and are heavily discounted, I wouldn't mind picking one up for myself.

I thought the BDA was shifting their focus to fight DVD? Seems they are still concerned with HD DVD.

It’s funny they would invoke Amazon.com when talking about HD DVD returns. They still can’t get a Blu-ray player to rank higher than an HD DVD player on Amazon.

Do returns count as negative sales on Amazon, I wonder?

And red folks use Microsoft employees and consultants for "evidence".

The difference is, this was at a Warner press event. Expect others to start posting on this as well.

Noticed how he worded the article: “I won't tell you who said what or which retailers we're talking about, but I will tell you that execs from Amazon.com and Best Buy were in attendance”

Of course, he won’t stand behind his information and state who actually said it… why… because it’s probably not true. This is a total BDA type move.

You mean like Toshiba lying about standalone sales and attach rates? Or like Microsoft employees lying about Blu-ray replication? Or the same employees lying about Blu-ray specifications? Or like Microsoft consultants being paid to write anti-BD hit pieces for major magazines?

Yes.

From Bill Hunt being called out by NPD... to... "We outsold HD DVD on Transformers week (wink, wink)" ... twisting news like this is pure BDA.

Of course they will. The BDA knows how to manipulate the press and right now, negative HD DVD stories are the “in” thing.

Bill Hunt never got "called out" by NPD. The article that followed with info from NPD confirmed Bill Hunt's numbers, with spin added to it by a Toshiba exec.

You do realize Bill Hunt was never "called out" by the NPD. They confirmed his data, just said he shouldn't post it.

Well, thanks to paid and admitted Microsoft & Toshiba consultants doing the same thing for two years, I figure it's karma!
