link? I can only find it for $399.99. Also JVC created W-VHS in the 1990's. Super VHS first appeared in the late 80's.

Eh, this price really has nothing to do with Sony. All but one seller on Amazon has it for around the MSRP of $200. And the one that has it for $334 isn't Amazon.

Their selling price is based on Sony's dealer cost, duh? So we can assume Sony's dealer cost is getting reduced over time - much to the dismay of the HD DVD fanboys.

Actually, this cost has been fluctuating between $332-$334 from a few non-Amazon dealers. Then again, who gives a rats ass if it's not coming from Amazon direct, as long as it's a good price and they have good service. Amazon at least has good faith in them.

Huh? Congrats, they get the units for $330. Remember when Sony was selling the BDP300 for $299 last year? Its now 8 months later, and the price is still $399.99 MSRP. Woot for Sony.

Perhaps it had something to do with holiday promotional sales? Don't you think

Wow, a player with better features costs the same as the previous model a year ago. Welcome to the consumer entertainment industry.

It really is kind of sad how people who are clearly intelligent individuals will try to pretend otherwise out of bitterness.

Considering the play came uut in June 2007 and its now 1 year later...yeah should've dropped in price. But it didn't. Now we have a player that is still not up to the standards of HD DVD and its $399.99. Wonderful.

What standard? Ability to play newly released movies.

Good one! Didn't see that one coming! How about, ya know, being able to go online and download features? My XA1 can do that. And my XA2. And my A30. My 2 year old A1 can do what a brand new Blu-ray unit can not do today. So glad Sony paid for all the studios. Its been working out wonderfully.

How are all those players at playing a newly released movie? I would imagine pretty good, as long as it's a DVD. I'm thrilled with Blu-rays performance thus far. I don't need gimmicks, just a quality release.

And since you brought it up, what was the price for Universal and Paramount. Hell, Warner for that matter.

Warner was $550 million. We all know that, but no one on the Blu side will admit it. If you think a studio just chose "because" they you are smoking some great stuff.

Since we are just pulling numbers out of our asses, why don't we just go with an even billion. That number sounds impressive, and it just rolls of the tongue.
