Default Best Buy Is A Complete Joke...

I got a glimpse of next weeks Best Buy sales ad for 3/30, and this is what they list for Blu-ray's:

I Am Legend - $34.99
No Country For Old Men - $29.99
Alvin & The Chipmunks Giftset - $29.99
Across The Universe - $29.99
30 Days Of Night - $29.99
Hitman: Unrated - $34.99

Why the fuck would you even waste time advertising prices like these?..

Prolly because they knew it would piss you off and make you start this thread?

These are probably just filler items for the sale flier. They had more space, needed stuff to put there.

But, ya, would be nice to have some lower prices huh?

Yeah, definately not a sale, but they are definately re-affirming the fact that they HAVE Blu-Ray.

Besides, their flyers are like 10 pages long, they have room.

is it actually listed as a sell? just b/c its in the ad doesn't mean the product is on sale, it's just "advertising" products that they have.

They have to pay for facility fees, right?
Amazon stomps on Best Buy in every possible way, especially customer service.

The ironic part of it (in Canada at elast) is they own Futureshopa s well.
Yet Best Buy here charges $30 for a movie and Futureshop across the harbour charges $24 for the same flick.
..wonder where I have been going? lol

ya, best buy is the best at bitting the big one!

Best Buy has always had the highest prices and yet they managed to beat out Amazon, Walmart and Circuit City in sales of EVERYTHING high definition.

Once you figure out why that is, then you will have your answer on why Best Buy has their prices set at those levels.

I am pretty sure their stock holders are not complaining.

I understand they don't need to list something on sale just because it's in a sales ad... My point was someone who doesn't own a BD player is going to see those prices and it will completely turn them off to BD...

Nobody is going to rush out and buy those titles at the prices listed, and they're doing more harm than good by putting them in a sales flyer...

Amazon: Online-only retailer. Consumers can't physically see the item before they buy, although prices are cheaper than store retail.
Walmart: Doesn't specialize in just electronics like BB does.
CC: Marketing blows. CS is even worse.

Soon Wal-Mart will pass them by in Blu sales as well. Wal-Mart is second in TV sales now and has limited selection.

With the "HUGE" selection of titles Walmart carries, that's a LOOOOOOONNNNGGG way off.

If you buy Blu at Best Buy the day it comes out, it is usually $10 to $15 less than their "suggested price". It doesn't beat Amazon, but its not bad and I can get it the day it comes out.

I find Circuit City has higher prices, especially on their website. I just price match Frys/Target/Wal-Mart/whoever is having a good deal, get my reward points and move on. That's mostly cause I don't want to wait for Amazon and paying for shipping just ruins the good deal for me.

The thing about BB is that on the surface the prices are a total joke, and I'm not going to try to compare them to Amazon. But I have gotten many deals at BB whereby the bd discs end up being $20 or so. They have had many BOGOs and they had "The Rock" and "Crimson Tide" for $14.99 one day. I have gotten many $10 and $20 off coupons in the mail. They had a deal where if you bought "Michael Clayton" and "Jesse james" for $30 each you got a $20 coupon. There are more deals I have gotten also.
So if you are patient, BB can be a viable place to get Blu-Rays imo.
btw: There are NO Frys anywhere near where I live so that isn't an option.

Default Fry's

For a brick & mortar retailer - Fry's is almost always the best choice.
Great selection - and usually the best prices.
