Default Wow - The HD DVD Firesale Has Begun! Bargains Galore

After Universal announced it's SRP price cut effective today, the prices on HD DVD media have gotten ridiculous. With 400 titles available, picking up these hi def releases and a $69 player seems like not too bad of an idea for some, others will think it's still madness to do so..But at these prices, even on Blu Ray, you will likely NEVER see some of these prices for years possibly.

Just checked Amazon and here is some unbelievable deals mentioned..

The Bourne Trilogy as a three pack....$ 30.00 bucks! $10 a pop.

American Gangster...$ 16.95

Elizabeth The Golden Age $ 16.95

Ocean's Trilogy - $36.95

Man, these are the price points that should have been common place.

Shit, I bought Gangster for $ 29.99 just last week.

Catalog titles on Amazon for $ 11.95!! Holy Shit!

I picked up both Tomb Raiders, The Untouchables and The Big Lebowski all for $11.99. I'm waiting to see if there is a mega drop on BSG Season 1, it's not worth it's current price, but if they drop it to $30 it'd be tempting.

so how are the studios supposed to make profits on this new technology at these prices?

I guess you have forgotten the HD DVD mantra that was spewed when blu ray first started with their BOGO deals and all of the HD DVD fan boys were ranting about lack of studio profitablity at these deals??? the HD DVD hypocrasy continues as normal...

Yeah, even though I was trying to cut down on HD purchases, I ended up paying a couple of hundred dollars more on these sales. *sigh*

This is called clearing inventory, profit is generally not a consern... It's a good thing you decided to prove to the whole world that you don't understand retail at all.

It's a going out of business sale. You understand that conceptually right?

Nothing wrong with a going out of business sale. But it won't play well in this forum because this forum does not attract movie lovers. It is more hardware and format driven.

So true...It looks like Bee Movie will be appearing at a retailer near you next week as planned.

Cool.

And I will be picking that up as well. My kid has wanted it for some time, and I was disappointed that I wouldn't be able to get it in HD. But now it looks like maybe he will be in luck...

Its bad thing to show to the entire world that you cannot understand a post in full and just want to cherry pick what suits you...

go back and read my ENTIRE post, specifically where I quoted the OP and then get back to us...

I just read the whole OP and I totally missed where it was stated that these prices should have been common place to begin with. I did see a whole lot of "this is maddness" references.

Edit: Just found it... Still, please find another thread to complain. Stop being bitter about not being able to take advantage of excellent HDM pricing.

So out the entire OP's post this is the comment you found the most important? Why because it fits your agenda?

I read it as news that movies are on sale. There is such a thing as context.

Hmmm, sorry... No appologies.... You smurfs really need to find something better to do with your time other than be bitter about purples and reds being able to take advantage of excellent fire sale pricing on HDM which you won't be seeing for another 10 years.
