Default Microsoft HD DVD player add-on going for $49

Shortly after the price cut to $129, next week it looks as though it will be going for $49!

Well a year ago this could have been devastating for blu-ray.

Now it is simply like when Sega cleared out excessive Dreamcast's from retailers at $60 a pop.

For $30 more you get a standalone player with HDMI cable at Costco.

Yeah, if you really just want a cheap player, may as well pick up an A3.

I suspect this will be picked up mostly by people that want the option to rip their HD DVDs to PCs later. I'll pick one up for 50 bucks for that purpose.

Yeah, but if you wanted the 360 remote, $20 more gets you an HD DVD player and a movie.

Yeah because with the tosh, you get 2 movies in the box, 5 on order whereas here you get 1 movie, 5 on order.

Simply, just get a PS3 instead.

You guys are delusional if you think Toshiba is still going to send out those 5 free movies when people are buying players for $50-$100... Read the fine print on the rebate form...

EDIT: "Free HD DVDs are limited to the selection shown for this offer, while supplies last"... Somehow I have a strong feeling that their supply has already ran out...

Was $129 not long ago, then $79. $49 now... that was quick. People who thought they snagged a limited deal on amazon for $79 are probably feel stupid now.

I wonder how much they will cost next week...

Hmmm....I remember A2's going for $99 not too long ago. I'm pretty sure that the supply hasn't ran out either since according to everyone Blu, no one buys HD DVD. I'll let you know when I get my movies.

hd dvd

Welcome me as I am now an HD DVD newcomer.

I just bought 3 Xbox 360 HD DVD Players yesterday at FYE in celebration of HD DVD's death.

The HD DVD Player's cost is $20 each after rebate. Plus, each package comes with a $20 remote and King Kong.

There is also the 5 Free Movies Rebate that I am eligible for.
Since I bought 3 Players, I will now get 15 Free HD DVDs from this offer.

Now in total, 18 HD DVDs purchased* in a single day. Pretty good as a newcomer, eh?

* or will be receiving due to rebate processing time
