As I need another upconverter what price would you pay for an A3? It may not be as sleek as some of the other upconverters but Toshiba does make good products.
At $60-70 especially if it still comes with a couple movies I go "purple" |

I need a sub-$200 profile 1.0 BD-player to be my upconverter. I have way too many BDs to invest another dollar in an HDVD box just for DVD upscaling.

I thought about getting one as an upscaler, but then I realized the boot up time is horrible compared to other upconverters.

The point is that I have a large library of dvds and not every tv in my house will be connected to a Blu-ray player. An A3 used as an upconverter will work just fine for the 27" tv it will be attached to and at $60 to $70 it will be priced competitively to lower end upconverters. Basically a perfect bridge till when Blu players are down to $100.

Nothing against the A3, but there are other upconverters on the market which I like better. If that's the model that you want, then the price is right already, IMO. It's a good value, especially with the movies. That said, it might well come down in price a couple more times in the next two months...

Never for me. Although, I wouldn't even buy a profile 2.0 Blu-ray standalone for $100 either.
HTPC all the way. Standalones are for geezures....

PS3 is all I want or need.
My next purchase is an AV receiver upgrade. |

$49.99 or less would be my choice.

i wouldn't buy an A3 upconverter. i have a PS3 and any other money will be saved for Blu-ray movies or a Blu-ray player, which can take advantage of my 1080p tv.
