Denon AVR 889 - can't see setup menu on my TV Help!
I have a Denon AVR 889, about 2 years old now. This amp has a feature where you press the menu button on the amp and it brings up the menu on the TV. I pressed it to make a change, screen just went black. I tried a different TV, still screen goes black. It is hooked up via HDMI cable, tried another cable, still no luck. The HDMI cable is plugged into the input on the amp.
I did a factory reset of the amp to see if that would fix the problem, not only did it not fix it, now I can`t use it as all my settings are gone.
Any ideas what this cvould be.. -

Now you've done a factory reset maybe the video output had defaulted to composite (might say in the manual)?

Look at the manual, but not all Denon's necessarily output their menus via HDMI. Maybe only via component or composite video.

No I don't see that anywhere. I noticed it did have a section in the manual about making sure that the HDMI setting is set to a digital output because it can't carry an analog signal, which makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why wouldn't Denon have their HDMI output set to digital? I managed to get my TV to work just using the actual impossible to navigate menu on the receiver, still need to get my PS# going which is on HDMI 2, and I would like to get the whole on screen mneu thing working.
I remember when I first purchased my receiver, all I did was hook the HDMI cable up from my receiver to my TV, pressed menu and it worked. Very strange. And I did try another tv with a HDMI connection, still didn't work. The screen just goes black when I press menu, so a signal is being received, my guess is I have ot figure out how to change the HDMI setting in my receiver to digital?
At work all day today, won't get a chance until tomorrow evening to look.
Thanks all for your suggestions -

The menu should be on the front panel of your Denon as well. I know mine is front panel as well as on screen display via hdmi.
