Default New Job = New HT

Alright, so I just got hired as a RN where I wanted to be, its taken a bit of time. Nonetheless, in a month I should be able to afford the speakers i'm wanting as well as my new Samsung tv. I'm trying to decide, can someone help me.

Samsung -UN46B8000 -$2,299
Samsung -LN46B750 -$1,429

The UN46B8500 is just more than i'm willing to spend, as home theater isn't my only interest, but it is my main concern. This tv would be used for blu rays, and gaming on my 360. From what i've read most people are saying they like the B750. Many people have said that on the B8000, there is a great deal of motion blur and grainy on the darker images. And that there isn't a price justification. Thanks for the help guys. Also, i'm not deviating from Samsung.

What exactly do you need help with again? It looks like your decision has already been made. I'd suggest buying from Amazon to save yourself on the taxes.

Yup, Samsung (and LCD tech) isn't in my radar for a new TV, so no help from this direction can be furnished.

I am leaning towards the 750, but I still wanted input, as I don't know much about the LED and edge lit and back lit thing.

My advice is to wait a 4-8 weeks and see what deals are out there on either of these HDTV's before making a decision. Also, is 46" the max size you can get? I know you are set on Samsung, but for me, the bigger the better. The Samsung LN52B750 (52" 240hz set) is $1829 at Amazon and I would not be surprised to see this set hit $1600 or less around the peak holiday period.

You also mentioned speakers as well. I would probably spend a little less on the HDTV and ensure that you have money to buy quality speakers and sub too. For a solid 5.1 speaker setup, plan on spending about $1000-1200 on the speakers and sub alone.

Yes, unfortunately, the way my room is set up and the ceiling angles down, I cannot fit bigger than a 46", eventually when I move out this will make its way to my bedroom. Then I plan on a 55". Also, the JBL speaker system i'm planning on buying is $1,250.

Gaming on a plasma is great. Sound & Vision did a great write up on LED technology. The back vs side lit description is very good and easy to understand. I own a Panny plasma and a Samsung LCD. Both are great TV's, but I prefer my plasma (for watching and gaming).

that is so wrong. I use my plasma for PC gaming all the time and I LOVE it. Don't LCD's have larger response times too?

I have the Samsung UN46B8000. It's a great set man. People look like they are popping out of the set when you are watching a blu ray or hd dvd. There is some motion blur, but you can adjust the settings of the Auto Motion Plus 240Hz to eliminate blur. It has a really nice vivid picture, with pretty decent blacks. It's a huge improvement from fluorescent lit LCD's. I was watching a 52" Sony 120 Hz LCD, and the Samsung LED blew it out of water in regards to clarity and brightness.

The internet content is cool now that you can stream movies directly through Amazon and Blockbuster, right from your set. I was reading the recent WIRED magazine, and the UN46B7000 was named TV of the year. The only difference I can think of between the 7000 and the 8000 is the extra 120 Hz. I highly recommend the set, you're going to like it alot.

Edit: I game using my PS3 on this set, and it handles gaming very well. Although I had a plasma before this, and never had any problems with the picture when gaming.

I use plasma for Wii and PS3 gaming. No problem at all. LCD actually look blurrier due to its motion blur.
