Study: Ultra High-Definition TV In 5-10 Years (4K and 8K quality)
In 5-10 years we might have 4K and 8K displays available to purchase. Some 4K projectors are now available for $175,000. Of course a new optical movie format would be needed to take advantage of such a display.

I will believe it when I see it - native content offered to consumers at 4K let alone 8K.

Most people don't have the space required to take advantage of 4k or higher. If people think Blu-ray is niche, wait till they get a load of a 4k format.
