Default BD Player upgrade

Hello all,
I'm planning on changing my "old" blue-ray player, a samsung BDP-1500. I was looking at another samsung player the BDP-3600 because I want to be able to connect the audio by the analog connectors in my Pioneer receiver. Is it worth the change? will I have better sound decoding the audio in the player and passing it directly to re AV receiver. Please advise me before I make the purchase.

So right now you have a player (1500) that you have connected to your receiver via an optical cable, and you want to take advantage of the lossless codecs, correct?

What type of speakers do you have? What is the room environment (size, carpet, etc)?
