Is this 3D stuff really going to fly? I have watched a few 3D movies in my theatre and the 3D aspect was crap IMHO.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

Wow, my whole family can sit around in glasses looking like dorks...

Either get a standard going or let us never hear of this crap again.

If I'm going to be wearing a device, I'd much rather have it be more a headset type system with independent screens for each eye that I can just take wherever.

Even then, I wouldn't get it unless there were standards in place and all major game companies would implement it as well (Bioshock in 3D would get my attention).

Although I have no interest in rushing out to buy into 3D technology... I am still excited that it is emerging on the home market. If it gets accepted, then just imagine how the technology could develop over the next ten years... hopefully eliminating the need for glasses or other headwear. That is when I will be ready to buy!

We have our 1080p LCD TV for about 2 1/2 years now. I'll wait another 2 1/2 years and get a 3D model. I've started prepping my wife already. She likes Real3D in theaters, so it won't be too hard a sell, and we will have a nice 47" 1080p "spare room" set (our current one) to last for many years, hopefully. Win-win.

Being cutting edge is great as long as you are sensible about it.
