Default Sacrifice?

Since when is the ability to view internet services an expectation of a display?
I can see it in a source component or even a receiver, but I thought the display was supposed to focus on displaying its input source as faithfully as possible. They do support many more file formats via USB than others, isn't that enough?

Is anyone aware of whether this is uniwhite LED or tricolor LED driven?

Has anyone actually seen an LCD or LED LCD that has local dimming? It still doesn't correct the problem. LG's 55LH90 has local dimming and the black levels are still horrendous.

Poor mass consuming public...believing every word they hear about televisions.
THIS JUST IN - plasma displays have never needed local dimming!

I REALLY want a plasma, especially because prices are so good. My problem is my living room is rather well lit and I am worried about the glare.

Hey Boston, don't worry about the glare on plasmas man, it's not as bad as everyone says it is. Most of them come now with an anti-glare panel that does help more than before. I have two french doors baring down on my plasma and never seen any glare.

Plus, the majority of LCD's on the market now are going to a glossy finish anyway, and the ones that are not yet will be in about a year. So that negates the glare argument for naysayers on plasmas.

Pull the trigger man! You won't find a better deal than in these next couple of months.

I'm looking to purchase around Black Friday, right after Thanksgiving. Are the Samsung Plasmas good? Give me some options of excellent plasmas with anti-glare technology. I really like Sony XBR9s so I would like a similar picture quality.

Thanks

Personally, if you were going to spring for a Sony XBR9, which if I recall is fairly high priced but want similar (or in my opinion, better) picture quality - I say go with a Panasonic V-series Plasma. From what I've heard, it's the closest thing to a Kuro since Pioneer dropped out.

I own a Panasonic Plasma I bought a little over a year ago - and compared to a previous Sony LCD I owned - I prefer it much much more. I also don't find the glare that bad - comparable to a glossy LCD and not much worse than a Matte LCD if the anti-glare is implemented well. At nighttime however - I think you'll be very satisfied .

Yes, Winklepr you're absolutely right.

Boston if you're willing to spend money on an XBR (hundres of which I think would be a waste) the V10 series is going to thrill you. Go for it!
