not that I'm against threads being made for news reported on HDD... But it seems like in many cases users post it on the forums first, then the HDD threads come along a while later. Maybe could we merge the threads or something at least? Or link the article to the user created thread? idk... Just seems like in a lot of cases HDD is duplicating existing threads.

Edit
See what I mean? Sharp reveals 'groundbreaking' new picture tech, LCD TVs to become faster, blacker, g

Haha a 5000:1 native contrast ratio? So sad...keep adding those band-aids to LCD's.

Well, at least they aren't being liberal with the contrast numbers.

My Panasonic 800U is around 2,500:1 (I checked with an Eye-One and HCFR). The advertised native contrast on it was 40,000:1. (I am envious of the 17,000:1 contrast ratios on the Pioneer Kuros.)

In any case, this Sharp tech should be a nice leap in quality for LCD displays. Imagine if Sony could mix this tech with a locally dimmed LED backlight set up (XBR8). It'd be the best LCD ever.
