It looks like it is more to limit the amount of energy TVs use (25% of the current TV lineup and all current Plasmas over 60")

Basically they are just trying to force TV makers to make more efficient sets.

Default Another example of big, liberal government gone wild...

This situation is just another example of why I hate liberal, "green" extremism in government. How about "Cash for Big Screens ("Clunkers") where the government will pay you with my tax dollars to buy small TVs? Do I need to trade in my 4 slice toaster for a 2 slice model next?

This is pure B.S. If it's using more Electricity, guess what, it's going to cost YOU more to run that TV. The more Electricity you use, the higher your rates go up. What the F are they trying to do? It wouldn't stop me. I'd just buy that HDTV from another State, ONLINE!!! This is yet more Government screwing this country up. It's bad enough with the Water Ban and turning California into a Dust Bowl with 40% Unemployment in these Farming Community's. Yep, FOOD costs will be skyrocketing from that, plus Inflation with the out of control spending. This is getting Ridiculous. They seem to have nothing else to do but screw this county up even more. Yes, lets kill even more Jobs. More People flee California, Have to raise taxes even more and they already are way to high, and cause even more people to leave. It's a continuing cycle. Where does it end, and how much in taxes is to much. With Local, State and Federal, Some are already into the 60% range. Is 70% to much? 80%? 90%? Ya, get them rich people for all you can. Because all those POOR people are the ones you get JOBS from right!!! What a joke.

You can if you put felt on all your windows and cover them with blackout curtains. Works wonders for me.

They do - but this is so very important from some reason. They already get us for an additional $10 for the 'disposing' fee.

Unbelievable what this country is coming to.

The really sad thing is (since they are already stepping on our freedom) if they were smart they would just put an excise tax on larger TV's, this would encourage people to buy more energy efficient TV's but still give people the freedom to buy bigger TV's at a cost.

The environment wins if most people go more energy efficient, the customer wins because they still retain their freedom, and the government wins by getting extra tax revenue.

Or they could just do the right thing and not ban big TV's, I know it's a crazy thought these days but maybe they should just let people keep their freedom to spend their money on what they want.

The day the elected officials actually put the people and the good of the country before their own money hungry ways will be when hell freezes over. Never gonna happen. That's why you got to love the liberals, on the one hand they scream about equal rights and do what makes you feel good, and then on the other hand their the ones trying to take away the rights, is that not hypocritical. What gets me though, is most people are convinced this is a good thing. It seems stupidity always wins.

Default California - The Wanker State

Yet another step towards their ultimate decline into irrelevancy. The state is in the midst of their biggest budget crisis in history, and all the deluded nut job liberals can do is figure out another way to destroy their tax base.
