Not really; some people still want to have something (physical disc) to show for their spending $10-$30 on a movie.

Personally, I think VUDU is a great idea but I would still keep by Blu-ray discs.

Well, maybe further penetration like this will allow VUDU to bring down their rental prices a bit. As it stands ON DEMAND from Comcast and VUDU are both pricing themselves out of contention for me when blu ray rentals are $2 from Blockbuster etc.

VUDU offers an excellent product, but for $5.99 the question of driving up the street to Blockbuster to grab a blu ray with lossless etc. becomes more attractive again.

We own a VUDU and have been overall very happy with it and the selection it affords, but when I can grab two new releases and some popcorn/candy at the local blockbuster for less than a single HD rental on VUDU.....

Vudu's pricing like On Demand is controlled by the studios.

You pay for the luxory of not getting up, getting into the car, driving the Blockbuster, hoping the movie is in-stock, waiting in line, paying, driving home, and putting the disc in hoping there are no scratches on the disc. Though most HD titles I thought were $4 on VuDu?

unfortunately they're still as $5.99 for HD and HDX for recent releases. catalog titles can be found for $3.99 sometimes (in HD/HDX).

Gizmo, I agree, that's a big part of why we bought it. At the time, however, the price premium was minimal, and an easy value to be sure. Now that prcing in the B&M stores has come down, we've been using VUDU less is all. I've championed VUDU and what they are trying to do quite a bit (including on this forum), but if the B&M stores are able to keep the prices this much lower it is definitely a challenge for VUDU.

VUDU does have an excellent selection as you mentioned, and you make a good point on the availability (in stock) issue as well. Since Blockbuster lowered their blu rental prices, the damn things are checked out more, too.
