Default Panasonic Bringing HDMI 1.4 To The Table

Panasonic will begin shipping HDMI 1.4 cables to Japanese retailers in late August

Early adopters can get their hands on them at the end of this summer, with prices varying by length from a 1 meter cable running about $42 to a 10 meter cable at over $200. Everybody excited to buy all new cables?

You only need those cables if you purchase 1.4 equipment - so which equipment will have 1.4?

I believe Toshiba will be shipping an LCD in the very-near future with HDMI 1.4 ports.

dumb...I obviously won't be touching 1.4 cables until I have multiple devices that support the protocol, and that will be a long, long time from now.

I agree it will be a long time before multiple devices will support the 3D content, and 4k / 2k resolution capabilities, I would expect devices making use of the data channel for IP internet communication to show up fairly soon.

The feature that will also arrive soon is the secondary audio pass-through channel (from a TV to a receiver for instance, if you choose to connect your components to your TV primarily followed by your receiver ).
