Default Lite-on releases $59 Blu-ray Drive

Lite-on is releasing an internal Blu-ray drive with 8x read speed, a 250ms access time, and Power DVD 8. It is available on electronics websites everywhere.

A model number would be helpful, because the only Lite-On Bluray drive for $59 I see is 4x for BD.

I don't know if you've noticed, but have you see the "apple community"? IMO most, not all, of them look like wanna be hippies borderline or already metro. Ya sure I've seen people who work in the movie biz have macs because they're "cool" to have and be seen with (see also iphone). The others are the d-bags who you see at your local starbucks or coffee bean trying look cool with their mac book or what not looking like they're doing something important when all they're doing is surfing or typing something on Word to make it look like they're writing a script. I live in L.A. and I see it all the time in the Hollywood/North Hollywood and Burbank area SBs.

These people don't care about blu-ray unless it'll help them raise their d-bag level. These are the guys who let their women turn them into dogs on a leash. I'm sorry, but when I see these guys I can't help but laugh. Even if you told them how great blu ray is for movies, they won't even budge.

Not to mention Apple would have no problem hiking up the prices for models with BD drives because to the Apple community it'll be a "brand new" thing in their worlds. Just like the iphone is like a regular flip phone is in Japan, most of these guys don't see past the front door when it comes to HT. I'm sure if the disc drive slot lit up blue, it'll be the must have accessory of the year.

I hope I didn't violate any of the TOS, but I'm amazed to see how many people think they're in with new tech when the latest Mac or iPhone comes out. I'm sure they won't notice blu ray until it comes out on a Mac book

I'm not sure what you are getting at here. I got the iphone, it's not a status thing, it was the phone here in the US that could do all I wanted in one device. The iphone isn't a flip phone and no flip phone in the US is close to it.

What I meant here was the technology behind the iPhone. We're sooo behind Japan in terms of what they can do with their phones. I mean heck, I was reading a few articles on how in Japan, some of their phones have bar code readers and when they go to places like baseball stadiums and such, they scan a bar code to get info on the team, stadium, the opponents, history, etc, etc. They can pay for subway fare from their phone as well as other things. I'm sure they had apps and an app store before it was cool. I was just trying to support my claim of the overall post.

Weapon X,

It's not anger, I'm just seeing why our society is so dumbed down compared to others. People don't do enough research or learning. They wait to have it handed to them on a platter and force fed down their throats.
