Looks like Sony is getting closer to releasing some new changers:

These would have to have Hard Drives in them to even come close to being worth the money that they are asking. I have always really liked to idea of the changers but have never ended up with one. I look at them from time to time but never got one.

I have 389 BD movies, hundreds more if you count the 2-disk sets, and hundreds more if you count DVD's. It would just be better for me to get a 5-disk changer.

Why wouldn't this be in BR Hardware sub-forum?

Hmmm.. it's cool, but I think I prefer looking at the spines of my Blu-cases, choosing a movie, and pulling the title off of the Boltz DVD/Blu-ray rack

Definitely seems unnecessary, or at least for me. I probably wouldnt trust having my blus outside of their cases. And I also like selecting from my shelving and popping it in...just seems right.

I'd like to know why this is significantly more expensive than a DVD changer.

The drive and electronics premium should be a $600 premium. I just don't see this being a very good value at all but then again Home Theater has never really been the best value. It's a hobby.

I agree that this is outragously priced. Even with HD's it shouldnt be over $ 999.99.

so sony is trying to make people extra lazy? now they don't even need to get up to put a movie in, they just load them all in once and never have to get up again just use the remote lol

About frack'n time! I need something to replace my Sony 400 dvd changer. I just hope Sony will get it through there thick skulls on how to do Titles. Half my titles don't fit because Sony didn't give enough letter spaces. And when my unit looses power, it looses everything. Oh one more thing. I hope they make the disk list usable. On my unit, it would take forever to scroll.

max 75- They could daisy-chain the units like the DVD changers. Man, if Sony only improved the software in the DVD changer.

400 disc changer? Makes me think of the saying about guys that drive big trucks to make up for the little ____ .

Just having a hard drive with 400 movies on it would be 100x better.

The rein of the disc is over. HDD FTW!

Until the HDD crashes. And I really doubt Sony is gonna put a BR player with a HDD just to store the movie. If anything, maybe just the smallest of HDD to store downloadable content.

Yep, there's a simplicity and security with a changer that can't be matched by HDD.

Oh, and I suspect any storage made available will simply be a flash drive and not a HD (especially if it's for BD-Live downloadable content only).

I'm ready for this. When the movie starts I can't see the case it came in anyway.
I love my 400 disc changer. I made my first disc a list in excell of all my discs and I simply play the first disc until I see one I want to watch.Type in the number. A few seconds later I'm watching the movie. Now that my projector and reciever upconvert to near HD quality, I watch my old movies almost as much as my blu and HDDVDs.

Wow, yeah sorry but no way not for that price.... It would have to be capable of archiving BDs to a 5TB raid array for that much money. With a raid 5 array you're pretty darn secure.

I have a 301 changer for CDs and love it, but I don't know if I'd want one for movies. Maybe if I had a ton of money (and they would need to be stackable), but otherwise it's just a pipe dream for me.
